I know I have been throwing reviews at you left and right. But guys, this is a really good one! I often get emails to review food products which, of course, make lots of sense being a food blogger and dietitian. But what about the aftermath….the
dirty dishes!!
The folks over at Finish sent me samples of Finish Quantum to test out and join the Finish Sticky Dish Challenge. Finish Quantum has 3-chamber technology that releases agents that break down food residues. But they didn’t want me to just test it, they wanted me to go above and beyond leaving that pan in the dishwasher overnight (no pre-rinsing!) and run the washer in the morning using Finish Quantum.
I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical at first. The boy couldn’t help but laugh after I received this product because he knows I am not a fan of scrubbing the dishes before putting them in the sink. Isn’t that what a dishwasher is for??
I have already had the pleasure of using Finish twice. Let me tell you, this stuff works!
The boy and I had friends over
for dinner on Sunday which we felt was the perfect opportunity to get messy in the kitchen. With the help of a gift card for Williams Sonoma from Finish we purchased a fabulous new grill pan. Isn’t she a beauty?
The boy went to work making a roast with potatoes and asparagus. He handles the meat, while I usually handle vegetables (in this case salad) and desserts (oreo cheesecake..indulgent recipe to come!).
While cooking away, our guests enjoyed a fruit and cheese platter which also included some roasted pumpkin seeds!
Butternut Squash, Mushroom, and Onion Rolled Roast
(serves 6-8)
Ingredients:
- 12 inch tenderloin
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 pound baby portabella mushrooms, finely chopped
- 2 cups butternut squash, cubed
- 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
- 15 cloves garlic, finely chopped
Directions:
Start by caramelizing the chopped onions with olive oil. When lightly golden brown, adding in mushrooms…
butternut squash, and garlic. Mix well to combine.
Cook until all liquid is evaporated about 10-15 minutes. Let mixture cool.
Take the trimmed piece of tenderloin and place on cutting board. Slice carefully as your roll out the meat to create a flat base. Spread the cooled mixture evenly, leaving space at both sides.
Slowly roll tenderloin.
Start tying with butcher twine. Tie in center and work your way out. Apply even pressure with twine.
Preheat pan on high and add olive oil. Sear roast on each side about 4 minutes before adding potatoes. Place in 400 degree oven for 35-45 minutes, depending on how cooked you prefer your roast.
This dish was just fabulous!! I mean, the boy really can’t go wrong. Oh, and my cheesecake was a hit too! ![]()
The steak was perfectly cooked and the filling was just amazing!! So flavorful. I loved the hint of sweetness from the squash and caramelized onions. It would be perfect to use as part of a Thanksgiving stuffing.
After transferring the roast on another cutting board, cut twine, and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing (forgot to snap a pic). The boy served potatoes and asparagus in the pan to get in some extra flavor.
And after dinner, we let our mess of a pan sit in the dishwasher overnight, no rinsing.
We ran the dishes the next morning and were more than surprised at what we saw. Check it out!!
Immaculate!!
We also tried out Finish with our risotto dish the other night. This dish was seriously dirty and it got that baby spotless!!
A big thank you to Finish for allowing me the opportunity to try out their product!!

Oh my goodness, this roast sounds amazing. Butternut squash and caramelized onions are both tickets to my heart, so I can only imagine how delicious they must be coupled with tenderloin! I know I’ve said this before, but Swanky Boyfriend sure is a good one.
I could definitely use some Finish powerball action in my dishwasher. I live with four messy boys (read: they never pre-rinse their dishes), and one over-worked dishwasher. We usually have to run the load twice because a single round doesn’t get rid of the food residue. :-p
I’m sure looking forward to that Oreo Cheesecake recipe; please don’t make us wait too long!
Gotta say, I am more impressed by that meal than the cleaning product! Wow, you went all out and the result was absolutely insane! I love you combination of flavors with the squash and mushrooms and your cheese platter is exquisite! I live in an older duplex, no dishwasher.Old school here!
It’s funny cause we went through a period of a few months not even using the dishwasher. It definitely makes you get on those dishes sooner…well sometimes!
Love the apples on cheese plate and tat roast? Beyond impressive. What are ingredients/chemicals involved in Finish, love the concept if “safe”.
I agree. The main ingredient is sodium carbonate. Do you have any good detergents that are “safe”?
I have never seen anything like that rolled roast – it looks amazing!!!
And please stop rubbing it in that I have no dishwasher
Oh loving that snack/cheese platter! I guess my biggest clean up problem is when I make spaghetti sauce. I’ll make tons of it to jar and it simmers for about 6 hours. No matter how much stirring you do, some sticks to the bottom of the pots. Those literally take about 2 days of soaking and scrubbing to get clean.
I know exactly what you mean!! Spaghetti sauce is one of the worst!
Wow, that’s amazing! I can’t tell you how much residue is left on our dishes sometimes, even using high end dishwashing tablets – I am going to have to look for that!
That meat looks delicious (that’s what she said!)
Wow! I am so impressed with your rolled tenderloin! I think cutting it into a sheet has to be challenging. Or perhaps, my knives are all just so bad I don’t know that they would be capable!!!
From culinary school, the boy has some seriously great knives!!!
I hate scrubbing dishes…so I guess I need some Finish in my life!! Cool review!
I like the photo evidence!
I always rinse dishes before putting them in the dishwasher and my husband just doesn’t get it. He would like this!!
I don’t know what’s better — that delicious roast or how clean everything got?! Amazing!
I agree!! The pan getting spotless was just a plus!
Yum, what a fab looking tenderloin! I’m glad the Finish worked well for you — I’m forever looking for something that will let me not scrub pans, lol
Our dishwasher is underpowered too, which doesn’t help!
I tried making your roasted pumpkin seeds yesterday — they were really good, except for the ones I burned!
Oh no!!! I am surprised I didn’t burn mine! You really have to keep a close eye on them. Glad you enjoyed them!
