Hi, friends! I had one action packed weekend!
Friday night started with attending a charity event for Taste of Spirit. The event was held for Spirit Therapies, “a no
n-profit therapeutic riding center that positively impacts the lives of the physically and mentally challenged through connecting with trained therapy horses, certified instructors, and compassionate volunteers.”
My sister has volunteered for Spirit Therapies in the past, and purchased a table for the evening. The event had live country music. The boy had to work but I knew he would have loved what they were playing.
My grandma liked the band so much she bought their cd!
Spirit Therapies was celebrating their 10th anniversary.
Throughout the night, they featured a slide show including pictures of the different animals at Spirit Therapies. They even showed a picture of a goat named Charlie who lives at the ranch. They described him as acting like a dog or cat cause he likes to sit on your lap. I want a goat now.
The table was set up was just beautiful! My sister invited my aunts, uncle, grandma, cousin, and parents to the event. It was a family affair!
There were many organizations that donated items for the event. This delicious cake was made by a local bakery.
The highlight of the night was the auction!
Since my sister got a table, she received tickets for the auction. I had a hay day finding items. You see that Trader Joes bag filled with goodies?? You bet I put a couple tickets in there!
As if the night couldn’t get any better, there was also a wine tasting.
I noticed some chocolate wine in the mix. You remember chocovine from Rock and Roll Wine? I saved a glass for dessert.
My sister borrowed a friend’s wheelchair for the night. She was in good spirits (no pun intended)! Don’t worry, she was holding my uncle’s wine too!
The ladies of the night…my mom, sister, and I!
After the auction, we got seated at our tables. The children of Spirit Therapies decorated the flower pots on each table. I was able to take ours home.
One of the most interesting wines I tasted of the evening was a combination of 9 different wines. It had a very unique flavor to it.
Along with the wine, there was also a sit down dinner.
We started off with a garden salad with blue cheese and a apple cider vinaigrette. The dressing was seriously bomb! I wish I could recreate it at home.
The entrée was a breaded chicken breast with sauce, mashed potatoes, and
a mixture of green beans, peppers, and onions. For banquet food, we were all really impressed. This meal was delicious!
Mini cornbread muffins with a side of honey butter made the perfect addition to our meal.
Dessert was a apple cobbler. I had a couple bites cause I was too full at that point.
The event was just wonderful! They did such a great job of putting it together. It was great to get out of the house and hang out with my fam!
Even after a few glasses of wine the night before, I made sure to get up for bootcamp. I decided to sign up for classes since my groupon expired. I am looking forward to getting to go more often now.
Saturday morning’s class was the 300 workout. 10 exercises-30 reps each. Included in the 10 were box jumps, jump rope, burpees, reverse burpees, and bear crawls. Another good (but tough) workout.
Later that evening, I got all gussied up for my 10 year reunion. My friend Jillian and I met for a drink before the night began.
We walked over to the Fashion Show mall, where the reunion was being held.
Once we got inside, of course, I got to chatting away. I only ended up snapping a few pictures.
This picture is not only high school friends, but we all went to grade school together too!
My friend Mike and I.
There were a few people I hadn’t seen since high school so it was great to catch up!
I had such a great weekend! I was seriously lazy today. Swanky boyfriend and I have been laying on the couch watching the Walking Dead marathon all day. Thankfully, I got in all my errands and housework Saturday.
How was your weekend?

You have such a fun social life
Mine seems pitifully boring in comparison.
Glad the reunion was fun!!
Thanks Regan!
But most weekends are not half as eventful!
I think that’s why I burned out so quickly come Sunday!
I agree with Regan, my weekend recap hockey, soccer, soccer, hockey wouldn’t sounds as fun. Plus, great dress.
wow! what a fun and elaborate event!
What a wonderful event. There is a riding center similar to that nearby. A friend of mine has volunteered there over the years. Glad your sister was able to get out and enjoy too. Looks like you had a fun weekend all the way around!
I think it is such a neat opportunity.
I would love to try and volunteer there one of these days!
Wow, my weekend seems a tad dull now; I worked on saturday and worked on my thesis sunday…but enjoyed it overall! You seem to have had an awesome time, hope you have a great week.
Thanks Vanessa!
My weekends are never this eventful which is why I think I just burned out by Sunday!
Hope you have a great week too!
I think I love your sister now after learning she has volunteered with the therapeutic riding center. I grew up horseback riding and we occassionally had students with disabilities come to the farm. I just LOVE seeing the interaction between those kids and the horses. It seems horses can provide relief on so many levels, whether it is physically helping a person with cerebral palsy gain muscle strength or providing emotional support to another, it just puts me in awe of these creatures! Okay now I seriously miss a horse-centered life…
Oh and P.S. to end this long comment, love that dress you wore to the reunion!
Yeah, I haven’t gotten the opportunity to go up there with her but really want to. I think it is so amazing!
You always have lots of fun stuff going on on the weekends, which is fabulous! I’m really intrigued by the wine that’s made of nine different wines … I’ve never heard of such a thing before, but I can imagine it tastes really unique! Also, can I just say that I love that your grandma liked the music so much that she bought a CD?
Have a great week, Kristen!
I had never heard such a thing!
I wonder how it would taste if I combined a few almost empty bottles of my own..haha. I am sure they have a system.
Wow, what a great weekend! I forget how young you are – my 25th high school reunion was last year!
I didn’t go to my high school reunion …now I’m regretting it but I was almost 40 weeks and felt gross. There was no way I wanted to see people I hadn’t seen in years feeling like that lol
I know what you mean!! I might have felt the same way. You are looking fabulous after just having the baby by the way!
Sounds like a wonderful event/weekend, and I am so with you on wanting a goat too
On my bucket list one day…
My Saturday was kids sports, then home with the kids that night while hubby went out with the boys, so Sunday was all about ME! Lazy morning…nap…run…long hot bubble bath…then a “girl’s night out” dinner. It was wonderful!!! Hope you are enjoying your week so far!
How fun!!!! You got a lot going on girl! That WOD looks awesome!
Looks like a fun weekend! Glad the reunion went well
I’m curious how mine will turn out next year.
