Mediterranean Meals and Snacks

October 8, 2012

Hi! This weekend flew by! Swanky boyfriend and I were super busy.

It started off with visiting Tony’s friends at the hospital. His best friend’s wife just gave birth to a darling baby girl.

The baby was just adorable! She was so aware of everyone around her. And look, she is a natural in front of the camera. Winking smile

We stayed with them visiting and chatting for a while in the afternoon. They were so excited! Tired, but excited!

After the hospital, we decided to cash in a groupon for Parsley Mediterranean Grill.

IMG_1783

The reviews on Yelp were all really positive. The restaurant was small, but very nice! I loved seeing the meats on the skewers.

IMG_1767

The menu had only a few options, but everything looked delicious making it difficult to choose. Sometimes I get too overwhelmed with too many options. After reading rave reviews about the shwarma, we both went with the chicken shwarma wrap. IMG_1769

The wrap was comprised of hummus, Greek salad…

and chicken. I also got a little tahini sauce on mine as well.

IMG_1773

The wrap was really good! I don’t think I am a big fan of tahini but the flavors were amazing!

IMG_1774

The hummus was especially creamy!

IMG_1776

Having the meat cook on that large skewer really adds so much flavor to the chicken. Unbelievable.

IMG_1781

We also got an order of falafel which was just meh. I have a difficult time finding great tasting falafel for some reason. But I would definitely go back there…groupon or not.

After lunch we went to my parents house to visit my sister. She is staying there while she recovers. I didn’t snap any pictures, but she is doing really well after her surgery. She has her leg all wrapped up and has been relaxing with Netflix and her iPhone to keep her busy. I did what a sister does best. I sat on her bed with her watching Disney movies while eating ice cream. I hope she recovers quickly.

The rest of the weekend was spent with multiple trips to Target (where I am a lot poorer cause of it) and lots of organizing projects took place. I will have to snap pictures of everything once I am done!

Other Swanky Scoop:

I figured my Mediterranean meal above paved the way for my Mediterranean foods post. I was contacted

a while back by the folks over at viagra Mediterranean Snacks to sample a few of their products after seeing my Canada Lentils posts. I was just blown away with all these samples they sent.

IMG_1641

The snacks they sent in particular were all made from lentils! You know I love me some lentils! I was giddy with excitement and couldn’t wait to sample everything.

IMG_1643

Since the snacks are made with lentil flour, of course, this makes them gluten free. They also provide a good amount of fiber!

IMG_1645

I loved the ingredient list for the chips. 22 chips for 110 calories isn’t shabby. Much less than your traditional potato chips.

IMG_1647

Now let’s get to the taste. These were delicious! My favorite by far was the parmesan garlic flavor. They were light and crispy. These are the perfect snack for someone craving a potato chip of sorts.

IMG_1651

The lentil crackers were also among the samples I received. Rosemary herb was where it’s at. I enjoyed a few of these crackers with slices of cheese. I would love to serve these at a party!

IMG_1653

The crackers are not as high in fiber, but all the other stats are pretty darn good. How often do you see 5 grams of protein in a cracker!

IMG_1654

Most all their products are non-GMO project verified and gluten free.

Although I don’t often snack on chips and crackers, I really enjoyed sampling these snacks. I am always honest in my opinions when it comes to reviewing products. I will be completely honest and say that the parmesan garlic lentil chips were one of the best snack foods I have ever had!! I hate to admit, but I ate the bag over the course of a weekend! A big thank you to Mediterranean Snacks for giving me the opportunity to sample these snacks. Also, have to throw in that the boy gave these two thumbs up. Perk of being dating a food blogger. Smile

disclaimer: I received these products free of charge. My opinions are honest and my own.

Do you like Mediterranean food? How was the weekend?

That restaurant looks so good – I’ve only been to a Mediterranean place once, but my friend and I have plans to try one in town. I love fresh hummus!

Those snacks look amazing too – I’ve never tried a lentil chip or cracker but I’m going to look for them. They sound yummy!

I got some of those lentil snacks a while back and will be hosting a giveaway pretty soon. I didn’t really like the chips, but I loved the crackers – especially with tabouleh!

Omg, so cute! Those pink mittens!! :)

The Mediterranean Grill sounds soo good. I’ve wanted to try a place like that, but never got around to it. Now we’re out in the Midwest where they have nothing like that, ha :P I guess I’ll just live vicariously through you :)

It sounds like you had a great weekend, Kristen! Have a fab week!

I was actually surprised to find such a delicious place. It is in such a random area too! Guess that’s one of the perks of groupon! :)
