The Dance

September 24, 2012

Hi!  This weekend was great! I got in friend time, boy time, and garth time.  Yes, Garth Brooks!!  More on that later.

Saturday, after a seriously tough bootcamp class (the 300 workout-10 exercises, 30 reps each) I met my friend at Eddie D’s for lunch.  She found this sandwich shop online after reading through the many good reviews.

The menu was full of delicious looking pasta, pizza, and sandwiches.  How to choose…

The place was very open which I really liked.  You could see the folks making the food right out in front.

After getting seated, the hostess quickly brought over a hot meatball for us to sample.  It reminded me a lot of my mother’s.  Those Italians know how to make meatballs. Smile

The menu was had so many options, which made it difficult to choose.  We decided to order sandwiches and split.  Best of both worlds!

I ordered The Dante.  Prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, sweet roasted peppers on signature bread.

Adrielle chose the The Meadow.   Eggplant, sharp provolone, broccoli rabe & roasted red peppers on signature bread.

I was a bit unsure about the sandwich she ordered (broccoli rabe in a sandwich?) but it was just delicious!  The flavors of the breaded eggplant complimented the broccoli and peppers so well!  My friend and I got caught up on work, boys, and planning a girls trip.  With great food and even better conversation, it was a fabulous afternoon.  I am looking forward to going back to Eddie D’s.

The highlight of my weekend was going to see Garth Brooks at the Encore

I scored free tickets to the show and swanky boyfriend and I were so excited!

The boy was even more excited than me since he is quite the country fan!

Garth Brooks plays only a handful of shows here in Vegas and I have heard the tickets are super difficult to get your hands on.

Although I wasn’t able to snap pictures during the show, I have to say it was just amazing!!  It was just Garth and his guitar.

He took us through a “journey” of his life and the music that inspired him.  His wife, Trisha Yearwood, even came onstage and sang a couple songs with him.

The list of songs included Friends in Low Places, The Thunder Rolls, and Baton Rouge.  One of my favorites of the night who just happens to be Garth’s is The Dance.  Although he said he didn’t write that song, he just loved the words and wished he had written it.  I loved hearing more about his life and music.  Such a different style of show compared to anything I have seen.

Hoping for a speedy workweek.  I didn’t realize ‘til today that this week starts

the fall line up!  Yay!  I can’t wait for How I Met Your Mother and Castle!  You think Ted will actually meet his wife this season??  I mean, he really needs to.  I don’t know how much longer I can tune in.  Anyone agree?

Hope you had a great weekend!

What fall shows are you looking forward to?  Do you like Garth?

What a fun weekend! I’ve heard that Garth puts on a great show! So glad that you and Swanky Boyfriend were able to enjoy it–for free! I was never a country music fan until I lived with one of my country music-loving best friends during college. She played country music all the time, and it really grew on me! By the end of the year, I had tickets to see Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. ;)

The sandwiches at Eddie D’s sound and look delicious—especially the fresh mozzarella on The Dante, and the eggplant on The Meadow. Yum!

Thanks Sara!!
That is cute that you become a country fan. I didn’t realize my bf was soo big into country until our first road trip. We had country music on Pandora and he knew ALL the words. It was too cute!

The veggie sandwich sounds great. Love eggplant, but hate menus that are so big and overwhelming. Sometimes that’s the beauty of being a vegetarian, fewer options LOL.

I agree with big menus! It makes it so overwhelming. At least the idea of trying something different (not pizza or pasta) helped narrow it down quite a bit. :)

The concert sounds great, I never thought of myself as a Garth fan but like all the songs you mentioned. I would think you get a lot of good shows in Vegas.

You know, that’s how I felt. I didn’t realize I knew so many of his songs until he sang them.

How awesome that you got to see Garth Brooks!!! I would love to see him in concert. One of my favorite all-time memories is singing karaoke to “Friends in Low Places” when I was on a trip to Nashville in college.

P.S. My boots are from American Eagle – so the price wasn’t too bad!

I do like Garth! Before my RD days I was a cocktail server in a big country, western bar…Guitars and Cadillac’s. Was super fun. Although I don’t listen to country music…I sure appreciate him! Looks like a super fun weekend, Swanky!!

Yes, I felt the same way. Although I only listen to a little country, I think Garth is pretty awesome. All he has done for country is great!

I actually tried broccoli rabe for the first time a couple weeks ago – I made a broccoli rabe pesto that is amazeballs on sandwiches!

So jealous! I love Garth…and country music in general. Now I have the lyrics to “The Dance” stuck in my head, but no complaints about it! :-)
