Copy Cat Baked Brie

August 29, 2012

I guess you knew this would be coming.

Like I mentioned in my last post, I can’t get enough of baked brie.  Doing my weekly grocery shop, I spotted a recently marked off brie wedge.  How could I leave it there?

I knew just what I would do…experiment with my own baked brie.  Yes, this is an indulgent recipe.  And yes, it would be perfect for a get together (say book club, bridal shower, or special dinner).  It is one recipe that will wow without taking up a lot of time.

Baked Brie with Honey and Pecans

Ingredients:

  • Brie (sizes vary)
  • 1/3 cup pecans, crushed
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • ½ onion, diced
  • 8 cloves garlic
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Teaspoon salt

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Start by sautéing onions, garlic, and salt in olive oil over medium heat.  Cook for about 15-20 minutes.

In other pan, brush with olive oil and set brie in center. Drizzle with honey and chopped pecans.

Put in oven for 8 to 10 minutes.

Once time has passed, remove from oven. Combine with garlic and onion mixture.

Serve with toast, crackers, or fruit slices (my fav!).  Enjoy!

This turned out amazing! And you can impress your guests by letting them think you spent hours putting together this amazing appetizer.

Ooey, gooey cheese in every bite!  Who can pass this up!?

Speaking of get togethers…swanky boyfriend’s birthday is this Sunday!  I think I enjoy other people’s birthdays more than mine as I get

older. Also, I am just so happy to spend our first birthday of his together.

What are your plans for the upcoming weekend? What is your favorite appetizer/treat for special get togethers?

This sounds amazing. Baked brie is one of my favorite things – my aunt made a recipe similar to this once with goat milk brie, it was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted.

You know, I’ve never liked brie. Not sure why, just a certain flavor about it. But it always seems to make for great appetizers – even just plain with crackers and fruit.

This sounds amazing!!! Now I need to have a party to serve it :-) . Another easy Brie recipe my friend turned me on to, is butterscotch schnapps poured over Brie then baked. Then you sprinkle cinnamon on top and add granny smith apple slices. Super yummy too!
