100 words or less

August 5, 2012

Hi all!  I had a fabulous weekend, but it’s not over yet.  Swanky boyfriend is headed over to cook me a surprise dinner!  I adore surprises.  I will be sure to bug him in the kitchen since I am too impatient.

Anyhoo, here’s my weekend in 100 words or less…

Friday night BBQ including fresh, juicy watermelon.

Food demo Saturday with my zesty lentils and seeds with almonds recipe.   A big hit!

Great service along with tasty happy hour at Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza.

There you have it!  How was your weekend??

Do you have a nook or kindle?

I can’t stop playing with it. It is seriously my favorite toy!

Have you seen any 90’s bands in the 2000s?

The Gin Blossoms played in Kansas City in June. Garbage will be here this week. Love 90′s music! Hope you had fun!

What a great weekend! Not sure how I missed those lentils from before, but they look delicious-just pinned! Sadly I don’t get to too many concerts these days, but 10,000 Maniacs would be a fun one. Have a wonderful week!

The 90′s concert sounds like SO much fun! Glad you and Swanky Sister were able to enjoy an evening out together. (Complete with fun cocktails, of course!) Watermelon has become a daily staple over the past month or two; I’m not sure what I’ll replace it with once summer is over. Apples and oranges just aren’t the same. ;-)

I love your cute cat mug–and even cuter cat! Xoxo

Looks like a nice weekend. I love Sammy’s! My friend works at the one in San Diego. I have a Sony digital reader, but I use the nook and Kindle apps on my iPad too. Hope you enjoyed your surprise meal.

I don’t have a kindle or nook, I read a lot so it is probably something I should look into investing in. I usually just browse the Best Seller list on barnesandnoble.com or do what Amazon suggests and then request them from the library :)

What a fun weekend!! I have a kindle, and it never leaves my side! So convenient to carry around. It prevents me from unleashing my beastly side whenever i have to wait in line or at the doctor’s office longer than I anticipated :) .

I would love to know the top 5 things you like about the nook…it looks like I need one…or a kindle…or an IPAD, but I need advice on how to maximize it’s use

I am happy to say I can easily list off 5 things…
1. Size – I love how tiny it is for bringing with you on the go. I always lug big books around.
2. Apps- I love that there are a number of apps for the nook. I have pandora, netflix, wordpress, etc.
3. Email and web- I love that I can log on real quick vs getting out my computer.
4. Color screen- The color is amazing! It reminds me a lot of an iPad.
5. You can read at night! With the light, you can read in the dark. You can also change the brightness of the screen. I have used this all week.
Email me if you have any other questions! :)

It’s funny but my new car came with Sirius radio – they have 80′s on 8 and on my drive to work I listen to that station and belt out Madonna and Phil Collins songs!

My mom has a Kindle and loves it – I am just reading my first book in years, so maybe I’ll ask for one for Christmas!

I have wanted a nook or kindle for a while but wasn’t sure if I would get my money’s worth out of it. I have only had it for a week and it is practically strapped to my hand. :)

Saw the Black Crows a couple of years ago and also saw them back in the early 90′s. Both times, wonderful concerts.

It was seriously the best purchase I made! I actually bought it through Groupon (it was a bit cheaper) and felt a bit guilty after (did I need to pay that much right now) but I am soo happy with it! :)
You will have to fill me in on how sharing books works. I still am really new to it.
