Yes, that is me!! I can’t believe I went off-roading and shooting at a gun range. I will have a complete post about it this week but let me tell you, it was like nothing I’ve ever done!
Later in the evening, I took part in a much more tame activity. I met my friend Adrielle for dinner and drinks at Agave.
The décor is one of my favorite things about this Mexican restaurant.
Both of us had margaritas on the mind.
We went with the tonala margarita, made with Herradura El Jimador, strawberries, Patrón Citrónge and fresh lime juice. Deeelicious!
The server quickly brought over chips and dip.
I really enjoyed the green salsa. I really should have limited the chips a bit more since they were just alright.
One of my favorite parts about going to dinner with girlfriends is that we all love to share. We decided to split one appetizer and one entrée.
To start, we shared the Shrimp Ceviche.
Mexican white shrimp with fresh lime, cucumber, cilantro, jalapeños and avocado
We were on the fence with an entrée so we went with the taco sampler which included our choice of 3 different tacos.
Fresh Fish
grilled-spiced tilapia with poblano pepper slaw, salsa fresca and fresh lime
Crispy Chicken Tinga Tacos
shredded smoked chicken with caramelized onion, cotija cheese, spicy tomato sauce and romaine lettuce
Potato and Portabella Mushroom Tacos
yukon gold potatoes, stewed with chipotle peppers, caramelized onions, spicy tomato sauce and queso fresco
Unfortunately, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the tilapia taco. It was my first time trying tilapia so I think I should give it another go. But, the best part was that I had fabulous company and conversation.
And on Sunday…
Since swanky boyfriend and I were busy most the weekend, we took the advantage of our time Sunday to enjoy a “date day” with lunch and a movie.
We decided on I Love Burgers since it was close to the theater and newly opened.
It worked out even better cause they had a burger and movie special. Score!
While waiting for our order, a brief phone call from my sister ensued an impromptu photo shoot from the boy.
We were thinking it was more of a sit down restaurant but ordering at the cashier and seat yourself service worked out just fine.
I went with the dante burger.
Ground angus, blue cheese, caramelized onion, and roasted garlic aioli
The burger was juicy and the flavors of the onions and blue cheese went so well together. I don’t order burgers all that often and it totally hit the spot.
I have to say although the burger was good, the sweet potato fries were amazing. They were sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar..enough said.
With our bellies full, we headed over to the movie theater. Although I was hoping for Magic Mike, we decided on the boy’s pick, Ted. Can’t wait to see Magic Mike with my sister on the 4th though. Anyone else??
Tony really liked the movie. Although there were a few really funny parts, overall I thought it was just ok. Bridesmaids is still the front runner in best comedies if you ask me.
I had such a great weekend!! Fortunately for me, I am off until Thursday so I plan on getting in some good workouts along with a bit of relaxing.
Thanks for reading!
Have you seen Ted or Magic Mike? What summer movie are you most excited to see?

I was just saying to my husband over the weekend that I wanted to go shooting, but here there is no place I can go. We used to go to the Gun Store in Vegas before it become the “in” thing to do and the lines were out the door. Then we went to a place on the west side instead. It was not nearly as busy and I think it was cheaper. I hope you had fun.
Good to know Agave is still in business. Did they ever opening anything up where Sapporo used to be? I know that was years ago so I am guessing it’s been a few places since then.
As for movies, I was excited to see Spiderman, mostly because it was released in Japan before the US so I like it when we get to see a movie before everyone else. It’s rare!
You know, I don’t know about Sapporo. I live on the east side of town so I don’t spend much time over there.
I really want to see Spiderman too!! Looks great! That and the new Batman.
I love the way that restaurant is decorated!! Shooting?? Wow. That’s exciting.
That does sound like a wonderful weekend! Having time off until Thursday sounds pretty brilliant too
I love the look of those sweet potato fries and was interested to hear your thoughts on Ted as I have been pondering whether I’d like it.
I really want to see Magic Mike too!!! Total go with your girlfriend movie and drool!
I love the shrimp cevice, what a great vegetarian menu they offer! The sweet potato fries are always a hit in my book… you know how to eat girl! Have a super week!!
sounds like a fun weekend! I love going out to meals where you can share everything!
Oh the potato and mushroom taco sounds really interesting. Would love to get my hands on that. So glad you had a wonderful weekend,
That taco was my favorite out of the three.
Everyone needs to go to a shooting range at least once
I agree!!! Although I was freaking out, I liked it!!
That dinner/movie combo is amazing!! Such a deal!! This looks like such a fun time, I need to go to a shooting range soon!! I want to see Ted, I lovee Family Guy..but am afraid all the funny scenes from Ted have already been shown in the previews.
I ADORE that chandelier in the Mexican restaurant. I want it!!!
I’m also super pumped to see “Magic Mike”. As in, the only reason my best friend and I didn’t go to a midnight showing of it near us when it came out is that she had to get up super early for work the next day. Must see!
(Btw, the title of this post made me think that it was about you getting engaged!)
That is too funny!! Not yet!!
I used to shoot my grandpa’s bb gun when I was little, but that’s about it – so cool!
And I’ve never liked tilapia – it has a weird aftertaste to me every single time, even when battered and deep fried.
I thought Ted was hilarious!! We couldn’t stop laughing even hours after we got home we were saying lines from the movie to each other.
I think Ted is one movie I may need to see again. But yes, Tony LOVED it!! But he also watches Family Guy all the time. I think the gets Seth McFarlane’s sense of humor too.
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Looks like a fab weekend!!
I’m DYING to see Magic Mike … I’m also excited about the Batman movie!!
How fun! I went shooting a few times while in college. While I enjoyed it, it also makes me super nervous. I didn’t grow up in a hunting or law enforcement family, so I was never around guns much and really find them SCARY!
I love when other people expose us to activities we don’t typically consider without a little connectivity….
how wonderfully full your life is right now.
Sounds & looks like a great weekend! I haven’t seen a movie in a theater in looooong time. Now that the kid is 4 1/2, I think it’s time that we take him to his first movie soon…
I’ve never gone shooting but I want to! I kind of can’t work up the nerve to.
Also, that shrimp ceviche looks so good! I just love a good ceviche
I want to go see Magic Mike tomorrow too! But we’ll see. I saw Brave over the weekend and liked it
