My Mini Vacation
March 12, 2012
Hi! I don’t even know where to begin to tell you about the fabulous weekend I had with the boy. Swanky boyfriend and I scored a super deal for one night at Green Valley Ranch resort off the strip, including a breakfast buffet for two.
Our room was spacious and quite fancy. We loved the cozy bed.

The room offered great views of the pool and Vegas strip. We lucked out with nice temps, even getting a bit of pool time Sunday.

The bathroom also got big thumbs up from the two of us.

I loved the look of this bathroom sink too. I am adding it to my dream home must have list.

We enjoyed an afternoon in the spa (sorry, didn’t bring my camera) but believe me when I tell you, it was unbelievable. The spa had an amazing co-ed sauna and steam room. It was so relaxing.
Sunday morning we hit up the breakfast buffet. Now, living in Las Vegas one might assume I eat at buffets often but that isn’t the case. But it’s fun to enjoy once and a while.

Although it was early enough to have breakfast, I went with a few lunch options as well.

We started off the buffet with mimosas. It really is the perfect vacation breakfast cocktail, don’t you think?

I really wasn’t sure what I was in the mood for so I got a hodge podge of things on my plate. The food was so so. What you would expect from a buffet. This girl isn’t tough to please especially since I had such great company.

I was so excited when I spotted a chocolate croissant and dessert pie. Sadly, the croissant was too hard to eat and the pie was just alright. Eh, you win some you lose some.

I am pretty sure the highlight of the weekend was being able to enjoy the pool. The Vegas weather was pretty perfect (one of the first weekends) and I was more than excited to soak up the sun.

The temps were in the high 70’s and the pool at GVR is just beautiful.

Since it was early and most of the pool was still closed off, we scored some great seating! These couches were super cozy!!

We both needed to tan those white legs our ours.

Sun + pool time + boy time = one happy girl!

The boy and I had such a fabulous time!! I start my next class tomorrow so it was such a treat to get away (even if in town) and enjoy a stress free weekend.
Thanks for reading!
How was your weekend? Do you ever do mini vacays in town?

E and I used to do mini vacations in downtown Chicago all the time. Since we now live in the city (instead of the burbs) we haven’t done so in awhile. Looks like the perfect relaxing weekend for you!
What a fun time! You earned that R & R!! Hope the temps are great when we are there next month!
Looks super relaxing! I need a vacation….
Little hometown getaways RULE!!!! So glad you got nice weather.
Sounds like a fabulous weekend Kristen! I think my husband has stayed at the Green Valley Ranch before, as said its really nice. We love to do mini vacays in town, especially since we have parents/grandparents close by to watch the kids. I was at the Natural Products Expo West yesterday. It was a lot of fun, but I’m a little aches and in need of a massage today after walking for 5 hours and carrying my huge “goodie bags”. Have a great week!
What a lovely mini-break! That bed and bathroom look so amazing. As do those poolside lounger / bed things. Aaah, mimosas and sunshine. It doesn’t get any better than that!
Um, I’m sure you “loved” the bed. Who needs good food?
Haha!!
Ahhh so relaxing. It can be so nice to just get away like that to rest up and enjoy some relaxing.
Looks fantastic! Good luck with your new semester!
Aw, what a great getaway! I hardly do these because I travel for work so often – I’m at hotels every week, 3 different counties in a week usually. So it looses its appeal for weekends, especially with Nathan 500 miles away. But, we do have great adventures when we get to spent time together. We met in the middle and toured Virginia Wine Country…
If I didn’t travel so much, I think we’d do this kinda thing.
Mimosas are a wonderful vaca breakfast.
Teaching class?! So I missed something, I’ll have to go back and look at what you are teaching!!!
Thanks Laural! I am actually getting my Masters so I start up my next class.
I’m glad you had such a wonderful time! Perfect pool weather this weekend. Good job scoring a pool-view room, too! Good luck with your next class!
This all looks completely amazing! Seriously! So glad you guys had such a great time.
Wow! This place looks beyond amazing. Glad you had a fabulous time. That pool area is gorgeous! xo
That hotel looks really nice! We had really nice weather in the northeast too – I’m loving it.
Mimosas are a must for any vacation, they are the best!
I live in Phoenix, but am still in Vegas! (My husband and I stay with friends in Henderson.) The weather is seriously perfect
PS: Love that hotel sink too!
Glad you guys had such a nice time and you got in some relaxation before your class
Looks wonderful!
Looks lush! I think little mini holidays like that are the way forward! You save loads of money on flights and you don’t need to take time of work, a weekend or night is all that is needed! Perfect!
Glad you had such a nice break!
I’m jealous yet happy for you at the same time.
Looks like fun!
Good food, good fun, good company. What more does a girl need?? Drinks? yup…you got that too!!! Good for you guys…a school and work break is ALWAYS needed. CHEERS!!!
Wow, sounds like you had a nice time. Can you believe I’ve never been to Vegas. You’ve sold me. One of these weekends I might be emailing you for a meetup in Vegas
Yes, you should! But try to avoid Vegas in the summer months. It is just too hot!
