Super Bowl 2012

February 6, 2012

Did you know that behind Thanksgiving, Super Bowl is the most calorie consumed event??

Well, I think we did our fair share of calorie consuming at my parent’s place for super bowl.  There was food galore, per usual!  That is a lot of the reason why I attend these parties. Winking smile

Hello, spinach dip! Winking smile

My mom’s delicious green bean dish was a hit.

Swanky boyfriend and I both dug into the salad bar.

IMG_7945

With my dinner, I enjoyed a Heineken.  Beer and football go together like peanut butter and jelly, am I right!?!

 IMG_7952

The desserts were quite impressive.

Strawberries with a cream cheese dip.

And the kicker..oreo cupcakes!  Yes, you heard that right!

IMG_7947

These were just delicious!  Two of my favorite desserts in one!

And cause I know you were all dying to know, here is the swanky boyfriend himself.  I am one lucky girl! Smile

Kristen and my other friend Whitney came to hang out as well.  We were SO into the game that we barely chatted…umm..yeah that wasn’t the case.  Smile

While everyone else was watching the regular game, I did have to tune into the Puppy Bowl!  It is so stinkin’ cute!!

Let’s talk commercials…

I wasn’t all that impressed this year!  Sad smile

I did like the Mr. Quigley skechers shoe dog race commercial.  That was pretty cute!

This post is short and sweet since I am off to bed soon.  Have a test to take in the a.m.  Thanks for reading!

What was your favorite commercial?  What was your favorite Super Bowl moment?

So excited to see a picture of swanky boyfriend – he is very cute :-)
I was grading papers and missed a lot of the commercials, but I did like the end of prohibition Budweiser one. I didn’t miss halftime though. I thought it was great! It got me wanting to add some Madonna to my workout playlist!

wow, that salad “bar” is impressive! Can I get that in my office right around lunch time? :)

Ha, I’ll have to tell my mom! :)
Yes, salad bar is always a hit at my parents.

My husband watched the game and I “watched” while doing some homework.

Unfortunately we don’t have cable so we watched the game streamed from the internet – so we didn’t get to see the commercials or the halftime show.

My favorite part was when the GIANTS won!

Now that’s a salad bar – yum. The puppy bowl always cracks me up. That’s what I care about ;-)

Oh my goodness, that is quite the delicious looking spread you had at your Super Bowl party. I was able to watch the 1st quarter and then I should have been home to watch the 4th quarter, but the toilet on the plane for the SHORT flight from D.C. to VA was broken, so we sat on the runway delayed for hours and I missed it. Sadly, I was informed via text that my beloved Patriots lost. So sad!

Good luck on your test!

Yay! We finally got to “meet” Swanky Boyfriend! He is very handsome :) Very happy for you!

The Super Bowl spread looks amazing…no wonder it’s the second more caloric holiday!

And the Mr. Quigley was TOO cute! My mom sent me the YouTube link because I missed most of the game due to my hockey game. I loved that commercial, though!

Aw, you and Swanky Boyfriend look so cute together! And it looks like that Super Bowl party was great. Parties like that, full of yummy desserts and appetizers, are soooo my weakness. I love that kind of stuff!

Wow, that all looks amazing. I agree: football and beer are the perfect combination. In fact, I only really enjoy sporting events when there’s a beer in my hand ;)

Woo! Swanky bf makes his debut! What a great looking couple!

I wish I could comment on the game, but I was flying back to AZ from CO and then decided to do some grocery shopping in the second half – so un-American of me I know ;-) but the grocery store was super quiet so it made me one happy shopper!

Thanks Lexie!!
I wasn’t into the game either to be honest. Just there for the food. ;)

Looks like you had a great Super Bowl spread! That spinach dip looks amazing!! We had lots of veggies too and I made a homemade trail mix that incorporated some of our Kellogg’s FiberPlus(R) Yogurt Berry Crunch cereal. I was pretty happy with how it turned out.

Reply

Swanky Dietitian February 7, 2012 at 7:32 pm

That trail mix sounds delicious! Do you happen to have a recipe for it?

Kati Mora, MS, RD, Kellogg's FiberPlus(R) Wellness Advocate February 13, 2012 at 5:02 am

Its just a super simple snack I whip up in my own kitchen. About a cup of our Kellogg’s FiberPlus(R) Berry Yogurt Crunch cereal, a cup of almonds, a cup of dried cranberries, and a few teaspoons of toasted coconut. It always seems to go over pretty well and I love that the cereal adds a little extra fiber to each bite. If you get the chance to try it, I’d love to know what you think. :)

I thought this year’s commercials were still better than last year. I really enjoyed the David Beckham commercial. I don’t even care what he was selling; it was good!

You and swanky boyfriend make a super cute couple! As far as the Super Bowl, I’d have to agree the commercials were lacking something this year…We has a delicious spread over at my house because my friends and parents came over to cook for us (I guess taking pity on the kids and I since my hubby was gone :-) .
