Feeling Like A Kid Again

January 15, 2012

Happy weekend!  Glad it’s not over just yet. Smile

Saturday

As a very belated birthday, my girlfriend’s and I went out to celebrate a friend’s birthday with dinner and bowling.

We started the evening off with Mexican at Lindo Michoacan.

The restaurant was crazy busy, so I’m pretty sure I managed to eat a whole bowl of chips myself while waiting for our food.  Bean dip is my weakness. Smile

Keeping up with the birthday celebration, I splurged with a raspberry margarita while the birthday girl went with a pina colada.

There are lots of delicious options, but I was feeling a salad so the Chipotle Caesars Salad it was.

Crisp romaine lettuce, grilled corn, queso fresco, cilantro, tomatoes, and topped with chipotle-chile dressing and grilled corn bread.

IMG_7666

It was quite the fun and tasty spin on a Caesar’s salad.  I barely made a dent though, since the chips and drink managed to fill me up.  Oops!

IMG_7672

After dinner we went cosmic bowling!  Yep, that’s two weekends in a row!  My friends got to enjoy my fancy dance moves that took place after a good bowl.  What, you don’t do that?? Winking smile

Thankfully, my bowling score was MUCH better this time around.  I broke 100 both games!

It was great having a girl’s night!  I hadn’t seen most of them since my friend’s wedding in October.

Sunday

My Sunday running buddies and I have been a bit burnt out with running, so my friend suggested a hike for our workout instead.

She had discovered a 7 mile trail in Anthem which she thought I’d like.  It was a gorgeous day for hiking.  Sunny, blue skies and temps in the 60s.

Although the trail is not as green as I’m sure many of you are used to, there was still amazing sights.

The view from the top was incredible!  A bit difficult to tell in this picture, but there was a beautiful view of the strip.

I’m glad we decided to change up our usual Sunday workout.  And we have to soak up this fabulous weather while we have it.  Is it really January??

When I got back from the hike, I ran a few errands including Trader Joes where I went a tad bit crazy.  Love that store!

I also finished up watching the movie Rio that the boy and I had started the other day.  So adorable!  Even at 27, I still love watching animated movies.  They make me feel like a kid again!

Hope you’re having a fabulous day!

Other Swanky Scoop:

I (finally) made a recipe page!  Check it out

What is the last animated movie you watched and enjoyed?

I absolutely loved the movie Up.  Such a sweet story.  My sister raves about How To Train Your Dragon, which I have been meaning to borrow from her.

How fun. I haven’t been bowling in a couple of years. I rarely think about it, but always have fun when I go. So glad you had great weather for a hike.

I can never say no to chips and dip! :D Love your walk and your temps – it was pretty cold today – the high was about 20!

I love UP too – one of my favorite animated movies!

How to Train Your Dragon is cute… watch it!
(I’m 33, my hubby and I rent animated movies!)

I always end up eating too many chips at Lindo… they purposely take too long so you eat them all! ;-)

Haha, maybe so!! I can’t even tell you how many times they filled our bowl! ;)

I agree with swanky sister – How to Train Your Dragon is good, you should definitely borrow it asap :-) I never saw Rio… I actually almost forgot about it! Guess I need to add it to my list.

Sounds like a fun weekend! I have a big weakness for chips and dip! And your drink looks so pretty! :)

The hike sounds great, too. I miss hiking on a regular basis.

Our favorite Mexican restaurant serves their chips with refried beans. While I know they’re probably loaded with lard, I can’t resist them. I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t bother ordering dinner, since I know I’ll fill up on chips and beans. Sounds like you had a good time!

I think the last animated movie I watched was UP as well. E and I watched it and actually felt quite sad for that old man!

Chips at Mexican restaurants are my weakness too. Sometimes I’ll start chewing some gum so I don’t devour the whole bowl :-)
I absolutely love Up, makes my teary every time though!

So sad I have two young boys and rarely watch animated movies with them (they mostly watch in back seat on way to Vermont but still). I do bowl with them so I’m not a terrible mother.

Finding Nemo was on TV when I returned from Tahoe last week and instead of being productive and unpacking, I planted myself firmly on the sofa and watched it until I fell asleep!

Yay! Recipe pages! I just updated mine today. It takes a while, but it’s worth it to have the recipes all organized.

Your weekend looked to be a blast…and delicious, obviously. The hike looks amazing. How far off the strip is that course. We finally booked our trip and we’ll be there the weekend of 4/13! We HAVE to get together this time!

Thanks, Nicole!
I am so excited that you’ll be coming to Vegas! Yes, we will definitely have to get together.
That hike is about 20 minutes from the strip.. a bit of a drive. But when it gets closer, I am happy to give you suggestions. :)

I just saw UP last week-it was super cute! Never heard of RIO but I’ll look for it. Your hike sounds amazing- wish we had that weather here in RI…I’m looking at snow and a dark dreary gray sky right now.
