Hi, friends! I had such a great weekend! Hope yours was fabulous as well. One of the highlights was enjoying dinner at Fogo de Chao on Sunday night with my parents.
Fogo de Chao is an authentic Brazilian steakhouse. In 1979, Fogo de Chao opened it’s first restaurant in Porto Alegre, Brazil. They recently opened a location in Las Vegas.
The restaurant was cozy, open, inviting…and had perfect lighting (a food blogger’s dream). ![]()
I started my meal off with a glass of Louis M. Martini Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley.
Kristen + a glass of cab = quite the happy girl
Although there was lots of food coming, I still couldn’t resist trying the warm cheese bread called, pão de queijo .
After ordering drinks, we headed to the salad bar.
I have to say, the salad bar was impressive. Honestly, there was every salad topping imaginable, along with other goodies like olives, jumbo asparagus, and tabbouleh to name a few.
My mom and I joked that eating the salad bar could have been more than enough for dinner.
I’m quite the cheese lover as you all know, so I had to put a few slices of aged parmesan, manchego, and mozzarella on my plate. ![]()
I loaded salad, cheese, peppers, artichoke hearts, green beans, prosciutto, tabbouleh, and sundried tomatoes on my plate.
I love fresh mozzarella!
Fogo De Chao offers a selection of 15 fire roasted meats including chicken, beef, pork, and lamb.
This fancy shmancy card is placed near you to signal to servers whether to keep the meat coming (green side) or if you’re done for the moment (red side).
Before we get to the meat, let’s talk about the sides. They were exquisite.
The garlic mashed potatoes were creamy and comforting.
There was also a savory, crispy polenta side.
I just loved the caramelized bananas. They were sweet and flavorful. I couldn’t help but go for seconds of this side. I hope to recreate them at home.
Warning to those not fans of meat..there is lots ahead!
With our cards green side facing up, the meat started arriving tableside. Here is the picancha, a prime cut of top sirloin, which is their signature steak.
I filled my plate with a variety of meats and sides. I wanted to sample everything, but not get too stuffed. The beef was juicy and the chicken and pork were oh so tender.
All the meats were exceptional, but I especially enjoyed the filet mignon and bacon wrapped chicken breast.
Although I didn’t try a taste, my parents raved about the cordiero (lamb).
For dessert, we couldn’t resist this strawberry mousse. My dad is a fan of strawberry desserts where his daughter usually goes for the chocolate.
Couldn’t have been happier with his choice though. The mousse was velvety, light, and full of strawberry flavor.
You wanted a closer look, didn’t you?? ![]()
After dessert, they brought around a cart with various liquors. I loved the concept (traveling alcohol-genius!), but we decided that we were too full for anything else.
After dinner, the manager (in from another location) happily took me on a tour of the restaurant starting with the kitchen.
It was neat to see all the meat being slowly grilled to perfection.
The staff and manager were very attentive to the guests. Swanky parents and I couldn’t have been more pleased with the service.
After touring the kitchen, the manager took me to the wine cellar. Fogo de Chao are proud recipients of the prestigious Wine Spectator Magazine Award of Excellence for eight consecutive years. I can see why! ![]()
Every winos dream! ![]()
A big thank you to the manager, staff, and SK + G PR for providing my family and I with such a wonderful dinner.
Thanks for reading! Be sure to check out more of my Vegas restaurant recaps here.
Have you ever eaten at a Brazilian steakhouse? How was your weekend?
*disclaimer: the dinner was courtesy of Fogo de Chao. My opinions are honest and my own.

What a fun dinner for you and your parents! When my family and I lived in Texas, Fogo de Chao was one of our favorite places to go. Yes, there is lots of delicious meat, but like you say, the salad bar is pretty amazing too! And, best of all are the amazing cheese rolls. I have a recipe that my Brazilian friend gave me, that I’ve been meaning to write a post on because they are delicious! Fun review Kisten!
I have never even hear of a Brazilian Steak house..however, in April, I am planning a bday trip to Vegas…maybe I should check this out bc it looks AMAZING! Agree with Spicy…Fun review!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Vegas is definitely a fun place to visit for your birthday! It is right off the strip, so depending on where you would be staying, it wouldn’t be too far.
What a fun night indeed. My babysitter makes plantains much like the bananas you mentioned, too good. As for these steak houses hard not to leave too full. I do mostly the salad as my meal. After a while it’s meat overload but you seemed to keep it in check. Traveling booze ha ha.
Do you have tips on how she makes them? They were just delicious!
That is so fun they gave you dinner! Was it through your blog? I’ve be there before and was happy just with the salad and sides (but of course, had to try a bit of everything)!
Yeah! I was soo excited they found me through my blog. It was quite a big blog achievement for me!
The sides and salad bar were just amazing!!
That IS an achievement!! Congrats!
I knew when I saw the name before I looked any further that this had to be a Brazilian steak house (I have some Portuguese skills!). I have been to a Brazilian steak house before. One in Las Vegas (soft opening for the one that was at the Aladdin (as it was turning into PH) and then on the island it was a popular concept. Since I do not eat meat I usually just eat off the salad bar. On the island I could order fish with it. The guys all called the place ‘death by meat’. It was 14-15 rounds of various meats, ending with grilled pineapple that they shaved just like the meat. That was yummy. That is so cool they took you on a tour. Sounds like a great night.
If I had have known there would be such an amazing salad bar, I am sure my sister would have joined along (she is a vegetarian).
It is definitely “death by meat” haha.
For obvious reasons I’ve not been to one LOL. But that salad bar looks awesome – and of course the wines
what a feast, what a spread! yum yum yum. It made me wish I was back in Napa with that glass of wine.
Looks amazing!
That sounds like an amazing eating experience! I have never been to a Brazilian steak house, but the next time we visit family in the area, we will definitely have to try it! I think you’re right about the salad bars being enough food for the dinner – I could camp out at a GOOD salad bar all night!
I have never been to Fogo de chao but have been to Brazilian style restaurant. I actually went on a date before I met E. I think they guy was disappointed when he realized I wasn’t going to eat $50 worth of meats haha. Oh well…
After seeing your pictures, I might need to finally cave and go to Fogo with my husband (he’s wanted to go forever, but I’m not much of a meat eater). That salad bar looks amazing!
My husband could have all of my meat. I want that salad bar and those fried grits!!! Oh, and all the booze.
What a fun and delicious dinner! I’m with you on loving restaurants that have great lighting – so rare, but so essential for food bloggers
I loved every part of your meal, from the cheese bread (oh, my) to the perfectly cooked meat (even if I don’t eat a lot of meat!) to the strawberry mousse (although I’m more of a chocolate girl, too
). And to have a tour of the kitchen must have been such a treat! I’ve never been to a Brazilian steakhouse, but based on your experience, I’ll have to go find one!
I hope you’re having a great holiday season, Kristen!
Thanks Jessie!! You too!!
It was so fun to get a behind the scenes look!!
Wow… what an amazing dinner. I love the picture of you =)
Nope – I’ve never tried any of the Brazilian steakhouses. This post makes me want to try one though. Love a good, tender filet!
Wow, tons of food! It all looks so good too- and this coming from a non meat eater! I need to try out some of these restaurants you recommend next time I am in Vegas!
How fun!!! I’m kind of a picky eater and not a huge meat fan so I’ve been intimidated by those types of places. But I think it would be a really fun experience. Everything really looks delicious! The only thing I would want to add is a little samba. Lol.
Eating at a Brazilian steakhouse has been on my list for a while now! Looks delicious!
What?? This restaurant looks so neat! I’ve never heard of the concept of a Brazilian steakhouse, but now I want to find one!
I LOVE Brazilian Steakhouses! My hubby especially is obsessed so we go a few times a year. Wroth the splurge! I especially love that Brazilian cheese bread…I could live on those
Looks like you had a fabulous time girlie…we have a bunch in Houston and I love going because of the salad bar – it’s awesome! I dont even eat meat….and I still love it! That fresh mozzerella looked amazing! Now Im hungry…
xoxo from Trinidad
I never get my money’s worth at steak houses but there’s a very similar restaurant called Chima here and the food is exceptional. My favorite is the bacon wrapped filet mignon!
My hubby and I went to Texas de Brazil for my last birthday. Have you been? It was my first Brazilian Steakhouse experience. Reminded me of dim sum, but with tons o’ meat. I’ve just recently heard about this restaurant and I’m thinking about going. Especially now with this post! I’ll have to drop hints with the hubby…Mother’s Day is coming up!
I haven’t gotten a chance to check out Texas de Brazil.
You have to let me know what you think if you go.
I really enjoyed Fogo de Chao but it’s definitely a LOT of food. The salad bar would have been more than enough for me.
