Hi! I hope you had a great weekend! Sundays are now extra enjoyable knowing I have Mondays off. I think I definitely could get used to this.
Saturday morning started off with a bang…or should I say a basket. (Just had to go for that one
). It’s been quite a while since I’ve ordered from my co-op, so I signed up for Saturday to pick up a bountiful basket. My sister and I decided to split the organic one, since it’s a TON of produce.
I will say, the volunteers are super organized. It’s make picking up your basket real easy.
My Bountiful Basket Loot:
- Bananas
- Cantaloupe
- Tomatoes
- Mushrooms
- Kale
- Romaine Lettuce
- Plum
- Peaches
- Broccoli
- Corn
- Strawberries
- And one cat
I love the variety you get! It’s so much fun to come up with different recipes for the week. After looking in my book of saved recipes, I came across one for stuffed peppers. I’m thinking the tomatoes, mushrooms, and possibly kale, might be great for the stuffing.
Later that evening, swanky sister and I went to dinner and a movie. We decided to hit up Balboa Pizza Company since it’s so close to the theater. I have blogged about this restaurant a few times. The food, pizza especially, is astounding.
Their maui waui fries are off the charts. With spicy jalapenos and sweet sautéed onions, they are a fresh take on a classic.
We always try to sample a different pizza every time we go. This one is up there on my favorites. Goat. Cheese. Pizza.
This pizza is for those of you lovers of goat cheese, you know who you are. I also fit into that category. If we are being completely honest, there really aren’t too many cheeses I don’t like. ![]()
This pizza was also topped with spinach, walnuts, and a balsamic reduction. Delicious.
With our bellies full (and happy), we walked over to the theater to watch Crazy, Stupid, Love.
The movie was excellent! We both loved it! The story line was slightly predictable, but definitely had some twists in there. You have to see it!
It’s hard to think of a movie with Steve Carell that I don’t care for. He is a great actor in my opinion. I still hold a soft spot for his earlier films. Can I just say Brick Tamland from Anchorman!?! Hysterical!!
Anyhow, I am off to another movie tonight. I am on a movie watching roll, I tell ya. It’s just too dang hot to do much else here in Vegas. Thanks for reading!
Side Note: I know blogging only gives you a glimpse into my life. You’ve probably noticed lots of dinners out lately. I am still maintaining a balance with the gym, 30 day shred challenge, and eating my fruits and veggies.
If I wrote about everything, it might be the longest post ever!
What did you do this weekend? See any good movies lately?

Your baskets look great. I’m with you on the goat cheese (and other cheeses for that matter).
mmm…that pizza looks so good! we watched “fat, sick and nearly dead” last night and it was pretty interesting!
Look at all that fruit. Yummy. And that pizza is calling my name. I kind of want to see that movie. Glad to hear it was good.
Enjoy every minute of watching movies now because it doesn’t happen much after kids haha!! Except for Disney movies…
Love Steve Carell!!
I saw Friends with Benefits (had to call hubby to get the name of the movie – I forgot) and it was SO cute, I loved it.
I am so jealous of your Mondays off! I am going to have most Fridays off coming up, starting in September…but I’ll have to work Saturday if so – boo!

I am wanting to do a goat cheese, argula and grilled peach pizza with a splash of balsamic creme on top.
And I love your side note. I think too often we can romantize each other’s lives. But I always tend to write about my highs, you know? Because that is what it is about: sharing! And when you go out to eat, you’re a share-er….I can tell!
That pizza sounds like an amazing idea!
I just felt like lately it’s all going out! If I were to blog more often, you would see much more eating at home, etc. But you are right, we definitely mention the highs.
Goat cheese pizza!!! How amazing is that! I haven’t really watched any new movies lately I am pretty bad when it comes to that. I don’t think I have been to a movie theater in 6+ months!
Hi Kristen! OMG….the cat in the box made me “awww” out loud! (am I remembering correctly that your kitty’s name is Oscar??) SOOO cute!!! (the basket looks fantastic too!!) Have a great Tuesday.
Thanks! You are really close! It’s Oliver.
The cat in the box is great! I can’t keep my two cats out of boxes or paper bags!
