Ahh…summer. Time to grab your sunglasses and soak up the sun (after you’ve applied sunscreen of course
). Here in Las Vegas where the temps reach over 100 degrees, I spend a lot of time doing the pool thing.
What goes perfect with sun and pool…a summer beverage. Here friends is this month’s Recipe ReDux challenge. I couldn’t wait to get started on this challenge since I’m that gal who loves calorie laden drinks such as pina coladas, daiquiris, and margaritas. Delicious they are, but low calorie they are not.
So here is my slimified version. The best way to start off any summer beverage is fruit. I had to include three of my favorites…strawberries, pineapple, and watermelon.
Goes into the blender…1…
2…
3…
Blend up those fresh summer fruits until smooth.
Fill your glass to the brim with ice. Gotta have it ice cold! Then layer the blended fruit with club soda.
Club soda adds a certain something to this drink.
Cold, refreshing, healthy…check, check, and check!
I played bartender to my sister and friends and they gave this fruity drink a thumbs up!
If you want to spike it, a shot of your favorite liquor would make it a perfect addition. I’d gladly take this healthified version over a daiquiri or margarita anytime!

nice work -this looks like the PERFECT summer drink!
Hmmm…favorite? Maybe a mojito…that sounds delish right now. At 7:14am, haha! It’s supposed to be 110 here today. Holy moly!! I love the fru-fru drinks occasionally, so good! Margaritas are always welcomed, too
Yum!
I will be trying this out, thanks for all the great recipes.
I am starting to sound like a broken record, but I love this recipe! I get stuck in ruts for drinks, for sure! Thank you so much for posting other drink recipes. For my own special summer drink, I always love a fresh batch of sun tea. There’s nothing better thank your own brewing, as opposed to mixes. Sip and enjoy!
That’s such a good idea! I love the club soda addition, I definitely never would have thought of that!
That looks simply fabulous!! Love the combo of the strawberries, pineapple, and watermelon!!
I’ll have to try the club soda addition!
love watermelon in drinks!
My favorite summer (and all time) drink is the mighty margarita.
Yum, yum, yum! My 4 yr old would also love this – it’s so pretty too.
Looks so good and is pretty too!
Yummy – looks so refreshing!
My favorite summer beverage is a mojito…or a cold glass of white wine. But this looks amazing!
I love mojitos! I had the most delicious basil mojito this past weekend! I want to try and recreate it!
Thanks for stopping by!
In the summer I usually stick with water. I know – BORING!
Hi Kristen. OOOH…this recipe is a winner!!! I may have to incorporate it into “cocktail Sunday”. Thanks for sharing, have a great day.
So simple, yet so delicious! Have you tried Ayalas Sparkling Herbal water? I think it would be so good with your blended fruit
Try to stay cool!
First of all, I love your blender!
Second of all, that drink looks so yummy and so refreshing. The addition of club soda really sends it over the top for me. Fizzy drinks are the best!
Thanks! I’d have to agree!
Refreshing, light and super easy. Love that you served it in a wine glass.
Thanks!
Yum I love these 3 fruits combined together! There’s something just so fun about a slushy, fruity drink in the summer.
I like this because I’m not a huge smoothie fan. Too thick. But I love adding club soda. Great recipe.
That looks so refreshing! Great photos too! I love making drinks with fruit and even sneak a few veggies in there when no one is looking!
Yum! Smart! I wonder if I could healthify a caipirinha without losing everything about it that *makes* it a caipirinha… I’m motivated!
You got three of my favorite fruits here, looks delicious and refreshing
Mmm… sounds so delicious!
YUM! Now I need to get a blender!
O sounds delicious =) I love the added club soda, that must make it much more refreshing than a regular smoothie. I’ll be sure to try it soon!
Love this, garnish doesn’t hurt!
What a great idea to add club soda to a smoothie for a refreshing drink! I’ll need to try it!
well, this one looks pretty swell! I make a watermelon mintarita which I could drink every day of my life. That would make me an alcoholic, but a happy one.
That sounds amazing!
This looks so refreshing! I love drinks with a little fizz
I too am very partial to a mojito Kristen. Love your photos – both recipe and your poolside slice of life. But you guys are killing me with all the summer shots as we freeze in winter in Australia.
I would drink this ANYTIME over a daiquiri, etc. This looks great! Thanks for participating in The ReDux!
Looks yummy spiked or not!
