Ok, so if you’re a 90’s music nerd like myself, you caught onto the inspiration for the title. Nothing wrong with a nod to C & C Music Factory to get this post off to a good start.
But in all seriousness, the recipe I made is appropriately titled Mmmm Sauce. I’ve seen this delicious sauce floating around the blogosphere, but it originates from the blog, Peas and Thank You.
This sauce is great on pretty much anything. Well, I wouldn’t start dipping chocolate bars in it but you get the idea. ![]()
Mmmm Sauce (courtesy of Peas and Thank You)
Ingredients:
- 1/4 c. canola oil (or oil of your choice)
- 1/4 c. almonds
- 1/3 c. water
- 1/4 c. chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 1/4 c. nutritional yeast
- 2 1/2 T. lemon juice
- 1 t. minced garlic
- 1/4 t. salt
- 3/4 t. curry powder
- 1/2 t. dried oregano
- 1/2 t. dried cilantro
Directions:
In a high speed blender or food processor, combine oil, almonds, water and chickpeas. Blend until relatively smooth.
Add remaining ingredients and blend until smooth.
This sauce was super simple to throw together. I love that!
Just delicious! Mine came out a little thick, but still tasted great!
I topped my mmmm sauce on a veggie wrap. Grilled peppers with tomatoes, lettuce, and feta all wrapped up in a whole wheat tortilla. Mmmm.
I was hoping to do a lot more with it this week, but in the freezer it went. My tummy still hasn’t been feeling up to it’s usual self, so the bland, boring food continues.
Other Swanky Scoop:
The Fourth of July is fast approaching. Here are a few great holiday recipes perfect for any BBQ or get together.
Portabella Mushrooms Burgers with Grilled Corn
POM Honey Vinaigrette Salad Dressing
Enjoy!
What are your plans for the 4th? If you don’t live in the states, what is your favorite summer recipe? Feel free to post the link.
My parents are having their annual 4th of July party. Should be low key this year since most of us have to work the next day.

Sauce looks great…looks like a play on hummus
This weekend my dad and stepmom are coming to town and we’ll be taking their boat out on the water. Super excited! We may be grilling for some fajitas this weekend.
Love fajitas! Sounds great! Have a great weekend, Selene!
Ok, I know I say this a lot, but I am in love with this recipe! I can throw out my cookbooks and use just your blog as my reference for a delish meal!!!
BTW – is there a difference between regular and nutritional yeast?
Nutritional yeast is often used in vegan dishes since it provides B12 and is a complete protein. It also provides a somewhat cheesey flavor to dishes, so it’s a great substitute for real cheese. You can find it at specialty food stores like whole foods.
good recipe line up, I am such a 90s music nerd. happy 4th to you.
Oh that looks great. I’m really looking forward to a 3-day weekend. Planning on enjoying pool party tomorrow then lake day on Sunday.

mmmmmmm mmm , mmmm, mmm.
is it technically hummmmmmus … ?
I think the addition of nutritional yeast changes it up a bit. Definitely a hummus base.
