Fun, Food, and Family

Hi all!  Open-mouthed smile How was your weekend?

Saturday

I met my coworker’s for another fun morning run.  We stopped midway to do strength exercises on the grass.  What a nice way to change it up.  Included were sets of plank pose, push ups, and tricep dips.  I’m soooore today!

That evening…

I met up with a friend to watch the 51’s baseball game.  The 51’s are Vegas’ minor league team.  Since Vegas doesn’t have an MLB team, the 51’s are the next best thing.  I used to go to the games often as a child and it’s been two years since my last game.  I was long overdue.

Vegas vs. Reno…biggest of rivals.

The weather was perfect for a baseball game.  Not too hot!

I got a beer and pretzel while at the game.  Beer and baseball goes hand in hand, i.m.o.

It was such a great time!  Although the 51’s were down, we ended up winning!  Smile

Sunday

I did two, count ‘em two, workouts!  Still kind of surprised by that.  My body pump class was canceled, so I had to improvise.  I built up the courage to try the 100 workout I mentioned in a previous post.

It was a pretty killer workout!

After finishing up, I looked at the clock and realized I could make it to a 10:15 yoga class.  All I have to say is holy chaturanga!  I swear, I did at least 30 throughout the class!

After prepping my food and running some errands, I went to my parent’s house for Father’s Day!  My dad loves P.F. Chang’s so we ordered in.

Although the sodium is pretty outrageous on most their dishes, you can find some healthier alternatives.

My sister chose the stir-fried eggplant.

Chinese eggplant tossed in a spicy vegetarian sauce with chili paste and scallions

She also picked out the spicy green beans.

Stir-fried with Sichuan preserves, fiery chili sauce, and garlic

Both were delicious!  Of course, we had a few unhealthy dishes.  I mean, it’s Dad’s day! Winking smile

I might have to report to jury duty tomorrow. Sad smile  I’m staring at my summons, putting off the call to see.  Cross my fingers I don’t have to go in.  Hope you had a great weekend!

How was your weekend?  Have you tried any new workouts?

The spicy green beans are one of my all-time PF faves.

Do you guys have Pei Wei? We don’t in this part of GA, but did when I lived in TX. It’s PF’s younger, less expensive brother, in case you don’t know… and my husband req’d take out from there at least once a week!

*Sigh* I miss TX.

Have a great week!

We have a minor league team – so much fun to go watch. And yes beer and baseball! Fingers crossed on the jury duty.

hooray! you did the 100 workout! I ended up running 10 miles on Saturday- 74 minutes- fastest I’ve done 10 miles! I was recovering from that on sunday so I didn’t do the 100 workout. My weekend was filled with lots of dancing (my roomate is a salsa dancer and I used to dance hiphop), arranging bedding, returning bedding, etc.

That game looks like fun! I love me those pretzels but I don’t think my tummy could handle the beer + pretzel- I know its a delicious combo though!

Looks like an awesome time at the baseball game! It’s been too hot here recently to go.

Wow, that 100 workout looks really intense! I’ll have to try it sometime for a perfect way to switch things up (which I definitely need!). Glad you had a fun weekend and happy Father’s Day to your dad! I agree: nothin’ wrong with a little indulgence on Father’s Day ;)

Fingers crossed that you don’t have to do jury duty! Have a great week, Kristen!

Love “holy chaturunga” but I don’t think I spelled it right. Your food photos look great.

Ooooh that eggplant looks good.

I have to try that 100 workout this week. I’m getting bored with my routine!

Ah! I hope you got out of jury duty – yuck!!! I am seriously considering having that workout framed and put up in my home gym. I love it so much! Now…I just need to do it! :)

I love PF Chang’s! That’s one of my favorites :) Love the lettuce wraps. And baseball games are so much fun! New Orleans doesn’t have an MLB team either, but we have fun rooting on the Zephyrs :) Hope you didn’t get picked for jury duty!

You’re the first person I’ve ever heard of first-hand to be called for jury duty! I think it sounds interesting, but I’m a nerd. The enormous amount of sitting around required is definitely less interesting. :)

I’m on a glutes-building regimen right now, because I FINALLY have the time to rehabilitate my running injury of 3 months ago—and I’m really enjoying it and ready to hit the road again! I like the 100 workout—must try that, too!

I seem to be the only person I know to get called! Thankfully, I didn’t end up getting chosen to be on a jury so I only had to be there for a few hours.
