Hi all! I couldn’t wait to share my amazing weekend filled with lots of good food and music. My sister and I enjoyed dinner and a concert at the Cosmopolitan hotel Saturday night.
Swanky sister treated me for dinner at D.O.C.G., an Italian restaurant. Being half Italian, this girl loves her pasta, pizza, and wine. ![]()
The restaurant has a cute, rustic feel to it. And can I please have a wood burning oven one day?
They brought around a basket filled with fresh bread and breadsticks.
I had a couple pieces while reading the menu. The olive oil and vinegar gets me every time.
I decided to try a new glass of wine for the fun of it. I went with Inzolia, an Italian wine…from Sicily to be exact.
I love a good white wine. I picked up the hint of spice in this wine. Not as fruity as I was hoping, but a good choice none the less.
We decided to split our meal. I love splitting food. Gives you an opportunity to taste a variety of foods.
We ordered the salad made with arugula, pine nuts, and parmigiano. I love simple salads like this. The flavor was amazing.
After watching the people to our side enjoy a delicious pizza, we knew we had to do the same. We went with the simple and classic margharita pizza.
There is nothing like the taste of a pizza on a wood burning oven.
Before heading into the concert, we walked around a bit. We actually parked at the Aria, so we walked through their shops.
Then it was time for some concert action. My sister is the huge CAKE fan. I was mostly going as her sidekick…and also to check out the venue.
The concert was located at the Cosmopolitan pool. It was a gorgeous night. I need to come back to this pool…somehow, some way. ![]()
The concert was displayed on the large screen so we had a great view even though we were ways back.
My friend Adrielle and her fiancé also came along.
It was a great night!
Other Swanky Scoop:
I received cookies in the mail from Sonia at Master of her Romaine (can you spot a paw??
)
As a winner of her giveaway, she baked me a HUGE bag of cookies. I was too excited to dig in.
These cookies were delicious! Thanks Sonia!
Had a busy Sunday cooking, helping out a few brides, and dinner at my parents. I know I’ll sleep good tonight.
Hope you had a great weekend!
How was yours? Seen any good concerts lately?

I *just* commented at Spabettie about how pizza is my fave comfort food, then I came here and saw you eating what would be my ideal pizza, and now… it’s 10.47pm, and all I can think about is firing up the oven. I do so love the blogging world.
(PS: I was thinking, “I love cake, too”, and then I realised that I was probably missing something. Thank you, Google, for smartening me up—cake isn’t ONLY a baked good…)
Blog reading always makes me hungry!
How fun, sounds like a good night. I also love your wine descriptions.
looks like such a great time!
What a fun weekend!
We had a pretty low-key weekend. The weather was finally a bit nicer, and we got to hang out by the pool, which was very nice.
That pizza looks so tasty. I haven’t been to a concert in a year. Looks like you guys had a great time!
I really like Cake. Seen them a couple of times.
I think the last concert I went to was Vampire Weekend last summer.
There’s nothing like fresh bread, olive oil + balsamic vinegar! Looks like an amazing weekend!
I agree with Lisa! I love when bread is on the table…mmm…in modertation of course
Kristen, I LOVE your dress! I saw on Twitter you were going to Cake – glad you had a great time! And such yummy eats beforehand, mmm
I like splitting meals, too, so that I get to taste so many more foods (one reason why I like dim sum
).
Have a wonderful week!
Oh YAY! Looks like such a fun weekend!!!! (love the paw in the photo!
) Have a great week Kristen!
I want a wood fire oven, too! Outside though, please!
Those babies get HOT!! Dinner looked fantastic and I just love your outfit
I want to stay at the Cosmopolitian next time I’m in Vegas – so pretty!!
I love that dress you are wearing – so cute! And I wish for a wood burning oven too – I keep telling him we need one for the backyard.
But then I would probably not want to make anything but pizza!
Thanks so much!
Yeah, I probably would be eating pizza everyday!
ARe you more of a sweet whine wine person then? For some reason, at night, I have to have a red…during the day, more of a white person.
And I am going to Mumford and Son in Spain next month. So fun…
As a single gal, I feel as if I want to advertise how awesome our lives are. You truly look fulfilled and satisfied.
When it comes to white wines, I do typically like sweeter varieties.
I do LOVE red though!
Thanks so much for your sweet comments. I am definitely living up the single life.
I LOVE the look of that pizza – thin crust, not too saucy. Looks amazing.
I haven’t been to any concerts lately -nor do I have any on the horizon. The last concert I went to was Coldplay – I love them!
