Four Kegs

June 2, 2011

Hello there!  I started my day off with a sweat session at the gym.  If you saw my tweet from earlier this morning, I wasn’t able to get a bike at spin. Sad smile

It worked out alright, since I had a few exercise sheets with me in my bag.  I believe this workout is from Carrots ‘n’ Cake.  I did 3 sets of 10 or 12 pound weights, depending on the exercise.

  • Dumbell Squats
  • Walking Lunges
  • Wide Stance Squats
  • Stiff Leg Dead Lifts
  • Tricep Dumbbell Extensions
  • Dips Off The Bench
  • Bicep Dumbbell Curls
  • Bicep Hammer Curls

I also did the stair machine for a bit.  That thing kills!  If you were wondering what happened with my 14 Day Body Sculpt Workout…well I don’t have heavy enough weights to do at home.  I’ll try to incorporate the workouts when I’m at the gym.

I’m glad I had a good workout at the gym since I knew I’d be indulging a bit with the delicious dinner my mom and I had planned.  My dad’s out of town, so my mom and I chose a Vegas spot that Guy Fieri went to on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, called Four Kegs.

The décor inside was nothing fancy.  Just your typical bar.  You don’t need fancy décor when you have delicious food, i.m.o.!

During the episode, Guy raved about the stromboli.  We knew that’s what we had to order.  We decided to split the veggie boli.

I ordered a beer with my dinner.  The combo sounded too good to pass up.  I went with a no frills, Bud Light.  This gal is no beer snob.

We ordered side salads to be a bit on the healthy side.  We weren’t all that impressed with the salads, but had to keep in mind they aren’t known for their salads.

Then they brought out the good stuff!  Ohh yeeeaaahh

IMG_3006

The veggie boli was stuffed with marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, onions, peppers, mushrooms, and olives.

IMG_3015

Oooey, gooey, cheesy…everything you’d want a stromboli to be.  And the dough!?!  Can we talk about the dough!?!  It was DELICIOUS!

We had two slices each and had to box the rest up to take home.  Before we left, we walked around to check out the Guy memorabilia if you will.

I think the waitress thought we were tourists.  I guess it would appear that way…the way we were taking pictures.  Winking smile What can we say, we love Guy!

I would highly recommend stopping by Four Kegs if you come to Vegas.  Although a bit out of the way;  it’s worth the trip!

I’m staying up late to pick up my friend Missy from the airport.  She is coming to visit until Monday.  The plans include relaxing and some pool time!  She’s from Washington and can’t wait for sun!

Thanks for reading!

Have you ever eaten stromboli?  Have you ever eaten at a restaurant featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives?

I love that show – I guess it’s just his personality. I’ve definitely never eaten anywhere he’s been, but think it’d be fun.

That stromboli looks awesome. I haven’t had any in forever. I’m a huge pizza/calzone fan though, so I’m sure I’d love it.

I have yet to eat anywhere from the show. I do watch it quite often and always am on the lookout for a familiar restaurant but haven’t seen one yet! Glad you had a good time.

That stromboli looks heavenly – I love calzones and pizza.

I have never been to anywhere featured on Diners Drive-ins and Dives but it is one of my dad’s favorite shows!

OMG….I saw that D, D & D show just a while back. So excited that you ate the stromboli! And I’d have taken those photos too. Enjoy the visit with your friend Kristen!!!

That stomboli looks amazing. I love triple D so any place guy goes I am usually down for checking out. Killer workout. I wish i had the passion and the drive – I never see results so I give up quickly. I have tried to go to spin class multiple times even getting there half an hour early and all the bikes are always gone!

AH this is SO cool. I love Guy, I have never been to a restaurant he featured but I just now decided I must!

That stromboli looks great, the only one I have ever had was at Old Chicago’s and it was so-so. This one looks delicious!

What do you think of MyPlate !?!?!?! I was literally in a nutrition education class for SNAP-Ed, assisting the Agent teaching a lesson on stoplight foods/mypyramid food groups when it came out- so I found out yesterday! oh well, i guess the pyramid will take awhile to phase out of all our materials!

The only stromboli I’ve eaten is from S’barro. Hardly worth the fuss. Yours look perfect! Oh the chewy dough and that gooey cheese!

What’s the difference between stromboli and a calzone?

Reply

Swanky Dietitian June 4, 2011 at 10:13 pm

I was wondering the same thing. I think a calzone doesn’t have sauce and a stromboli does.

I’ve never tried stromboli. Looks like I need to find a recipe and give it a try. It looks delicious!
