Dinner Downtown

April 18, 2011

Happy Monday!

Last night’s dinner was delicious.  My friend and I went old Vegas style and had dinner at Golden Nugget downtown.  The hotel has been newly remodeled and is looking pretty “swanky” if I do say so myself. Winking smile

My friend decided on an Italian restaurant called Grotto.  I loved the ambiance of the restaurant and the fact that it was very open.

They brought us out fresh bread and oil for dipping.

We started our meal off with Tomato Caprese.

Sliced tomatoes and fresh mozzarella

Reminds of studying abroad in Italy.  We would make caprese salads all the time because the cheese was so cheap!  Love it!

There were so many options on the menu but after seeing someone’s pizza being delivered to their table, I knew just what I wanted.

Although all of the pizzas sounded excellent, my friend recommended the Morty.

This pizza was delicious!  I loved the combination of flavors.

There is nothing better than a pizza cooked in a wood fire oven.

I can’t wait to check out the other restaurants they have.

Breakfast

I made a simple, but favorite, of mine for breakfast.

Peanut butter and banana toast topped with some chia seeds and a drizzle of honey.

With the rest of the banana on the side.

This combo is really unbeatable.  Love peanut butter and banana together.

Lunch

I ended up just packing a few snacks to go along with lunch today.  We are having a meeting during lunch and they are providing sandwiches.  I would rather have more food than less.

I brought a Chobani pineapple Greek yogurt, an orange, and pistachios.

Tucked away in my snackTAXI.

Unfortunately, since we have our meeting at lunch, my coworker and I can’t get in our run.  It is looking pretty windy out, so it might be for the best.

Hope your Monday flys by!  I will see you back tonight for dinner.  Thanks for reading!

If you have ever been to Vegas, did you visit downtown?  What is your favorite breakfast combo?

The last time I was in Vegas was when I was a kid. The trip over there is long overdue! Breakfast is my favorite meal so I have too many fav combos. I would have to say one of them is cut up pears with yogurt!

I love the idea of pears and yogurt! I always seem to do berries or banana. I’m going to have to give that a try.
Let me know if you make it down to Vegas!

The Golden Nugget looks great! I <3 mushrooms on pizza.
That is definitely a great breakfast combo! Bananas on PB toast are meant to be. Do you eat it with a fork and knife?! I always wonder about that when I see this :) I would for sure drop it all on myself if I tried to pick it up!
