Doing the Vegas Thing

February 20, 2011

Hello!  I started my weekend off at my cousin’s birthday party at Skymania, an indoor trampoline!

My cousin invited a few of his friends and my sister, friend, and I  decided to come along.  Aren’t they the cutest!?!

We decided to jump since we were there and all.  Open-mouthed smile   Check out the snazzy shoes we had to wear.

My sister and I ready to get our jump on!

We decided to do 30 minutes of jumping, and boy, was it a workout!  The woman at the counter says you can burn around 500 calories in a half hour.   We actually found that they offer exercise classes.  We are going to check one out!!

I got some serious air on a few jumps!

After jumping, we really worked up an appetite for lunch.

My cousin turned 11!  Happy Birthday Brandon!

I felt like I earned a little cake and ice cream. It was delicious!  My aunt made a pudding and banana center.  Yum!

Later in the evening, my sister joined my friend and I for dinner at Bahama Breeze.  We had planned on a different restaurant, but they didn’t take reservations and the wait was over an over.  Sad smile

I started with a Pineapple Coconut Martini and we had an order of Tostones with Chicken (Thick slices of home-fried plantains layered with chicken, sweet peppers, mushrooms, onions and cheese, topped with fresh tomato salsa).

For dinner, I ordered a bowl of black bean soup and a side salad.  Really delicious…but too much food!

After dinner we decided to head over the new hotel, The Cosmopolitan.  Let me just say, this place is beautiful!

We had a drink at the Bond bar.  As the site states, “A rhythmic  and vibrant hotspot providing a mix of dynamic LED art, live performance and music.”

IMG_7432

I had a vodka tonic and it was REALLY strong!

We got a little silly..as usual.

It was such a fun night!  Although I don’t frequent the strip that often, I was wondering what you guys thought of me maybe doing a “Vegas” tab.  I can mention restaurants or other spots I go to on the strip.  I’d love your feedback.

My friend is leaving today and we are going to head out to breakfast here in a bit.  How was your weekend?  What did you do?

Skymania looks great! We have a couple of those places here but I never thought to ask if they do “big-kid” classes or parties. Great fun – Thanks for sharing Kristen.

The trampoline gym looks awesome! I would love to have a b’day there :) Or just do a workout class…
I think a Vegas tab is an awesome idea! I have only been there once, but I had a blast and I often think of when I can go back!

I want to jump on a trampoline like that! What a blast! I could totally see that as a great workout.

When I have kids I want to get a trampoline… I’ll say it’s for them but I secretly want to jump ;)

That looks like so much fun! Going to have to check those places out :) You should try gin and tonic, pretty good and not quite as strong although I haven’t had one since this one time . . .

Oh how I miss Vegas! Looks like a fun weekend. Happy B-day to your cousin. I never new there was a trampoline place. Is that new? Next time I am in Vegas I may need to check that out. I love the trampoline. I used to do gymnastics and I loved to play on the big trampolines.
