Hi all of you beautiful bloggies! This week has been going by pretty quickly for me. How about you?
I went to my second bikram yoga class yesterday. You can check out my first class recap here. I had a female instructor this time around and let me tell you, she was tough. After class I started thinking about how I was not in the zone AT ALL! If only you could hear my thoughts…how much time is left?…this room is stinky…I feel nauseous, etc. I am hoping I can keep my focus as I attend more classes. I will say I didn’t think bikram would be as hard as it is.
Last night, I had my first experience eating thai food….and it was delicious! I know, where have I been, right? It won’t be my last time that is for sure.
My friend and I went to a local place called Thai BBQ. Supposedly this restaurant has been around for quite a few years. Funny how it is right by my work and I had never eaten there.
We started with an order of Fried Wontons.
Deep-fried wontons stuffed with ground shrimp and served with our special house sauce.
Now, I am not a big shrimp fan but thought I would give these a try. I really liked them. The wontons were flaky and chewy. Super delicious!
There were a lot of yummy dinner options on the menu. I honestly didn’t know what to order. I decided to go with something I have never tried but always wanted to…Pad Thai. I ordered the Vegetarian Pad Thai with Tofu.
Thai noodles, Napa, mushrooms, baby corn, broccoli, onions, sliced carrots, tomatoes, baked tofu, bean sprouts, and green onions, stir-fried in a mild spicy sauce served with a side of ground peanuts.
Let me tell you, this dish was amazing! I loved all the different vegetables in the mix!!
The texture of the tofu was perfect! It had a crisp outer coating which I can never seem to master at home. My coworker said that is probably cause it is fried. No wonder it tasted so good.
We really couldn’t pass up on dessert. We went with the fried bananas.
Holy deliciousness!!
Can you tell I am loving my new camera?? I want to take pictures of everything!!
The service was great and it was a nice and quiet restaurant which was nice. I am looking forward to going back there.
Looking forward to the weekend! We have book club this Saturday. I am hoping to make a tasty (but simple) recipe. Any ideas? Have a great night!
What is a new dish you have tried recently?

I made rack of lamb and a tomato terrine last weekend that I will post up soon….but REALLY want right now some of your THAI. I love rice noodles, and Pho is one of my most beloved comfort foods of all time
So glad you’re liking the camera – new gadgets are always fun! I have only eaten out Thai twice. It’s just something I never think to go get.
Looks yummy! I think I have heard of that place? Is it in the China town area?
It is actually by Sahara on Maryland. Funny how you hadn’t eaten there either!
Re: yoga, I feel like the focus definitely improves over time! Also, after I take a couple of weeks off, my focus deteriorates. So frustrating! I mean, let’s just feel the frustration and move on into Warrior …
… or, you know, Bikram might just turn out not to be your favorite.
I haven’t tried it yet, but I am planning to try a new kind of mussels while out for dinner tonight.
Kristen, all I have to say is that you’re too cute! PS go you for Bikram! I need to get back in the habit of yoga! I used to go all the time and now I haven’t been! That’s my NY resolution:) Have a great weekend! xo
I *love* yoga but hate Bikrams! I have a freind whos an instructor and is always trying to get me to go to her classes. She says it take 3-5 classes to get use to it. But I just don’t like it! I’ll stick with Vinyasa!
I’ve never tried bikram before, but I know my body doesn’t do well at all in heat, so i think regular yoga is better for me.
And I love Thai food! I especially love pad thai…a fave pre or post running meal.
I am eternally grateful to you for bringing up the stink issue—truly, it would have made me insane. And feeling lazy + reading this post = I’m going to do some living room Ashtanga.
Don’t feel bad about the Thai thing—I have an even bigger “I know!” sitch: I was a vegetarian for 12 years. It wasn’t until 3 years AFTER I stopped that I first ate Indian food. If ever there was a veg-friendly cuisine, eh?
Hooray for finding out how good Thai is, though!
I LOVE Thai!!! I discovered it about three year ago and it’s been a love affair ever since
Your Pad Thai dish looks amazing.
Luckily, everytime I’ve gone to hot yoga it hasn’t been that crowded so the stinkiness wasn’t a distracting factor for me.
I love Pad Thai!!! It’s been a looong time since I had Thai food… Everything looks delicious. Glad you had such a nice dinner!
I’ve never tried Thai either!! Glad to hear that it’s so yummy! I’ve heard wonderful things about Pad Thai, and those fried bananas look gawgeous.
