My Bucket List + Exciting Announcement

October 6, 2010

One of the things I love about blogging is that I get the opportunity to share my experiences with all of you readers.  Since starting this blog, I have also started a bucket list.  I have made a list of all of the things I want to do before I die (kind of morbid sounding, I know, but fun none the less).  I am sure I will be adding on as something new comes up, but I thought I would share my list with you.

My Bucket List (in no particular order)

  • Swim with dolphins
  • Go to the taping of the Today Show in NYC
  • Go Scuba Diving
  • Travel to Napa Valley (wine tasting)
  • Ride a horse
  • Go on a Hot Air Balloon Ride
  • Run a ½ marathon
  • Fall in love and get married :)
  • Have kids
  • Grow a vegetable garden
  • Go on a cruise
  • Learn to knit and/or sew
  • Learn to snowboard
  • Take a Bikram yoga class
  • Get my Master’s Degree
  • Travel to Greece
  • See Paul McCartney in concert
  • Go to Disneyworld/Epcot Center
  • Take a photography class

I know I will be adding on to this list and time goes on (and hopefully crossing things off).

If I had started this list a while back, I am sure I would already have quite a few things crossed off. Such as…

Going to Italy,

Italy 7

Meeting Giada DeLaurentiis,

 joining a book club,

and hiking in Red Rock Canyon (not once, but twice now).

My list would also include seeing the Grand Canyon, visiting the Eiffel Tower , meeting Bobby Flay and Ellie Krieger.

So this leads to my exciting announcement…I signed up to do a ½ marathon!  I will be running in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon (in LV ).

2009 Rock-n-Roll Las Vegas Marathon

I am sure you noticed I have been running a bit more lately.  It has been a goal of mine for so long so I figured what better time than now. I know it’s not going to be easy and I probably won’t have much of a social life for the next 9 weeks, but I am ok with that!

I will share more about my training schedule with you on a future post. All of you past marathon runners, I will probably be asking for your insight over the next few weeks!

As always, thanks for reading!

What is on your bucket list?  Have you ever ran a marathon or a half marathon?

Woohoo that is exciting! Having only ran 2 half marathons I do have to say the excitement and anticipation of the first one is so much fun. Can’t wait to read more about your training :)

Congrats on signing up for the race. That’s great. I am impressed when people write out their bucket lists and actually tick the items off the list. I have not ever written mine out. The first entry for me would be visiting Italy though.

i’m so jealous of your half marathon, heard that one’s a blast! i was supposed to run my first half last month, but mid-training i hurt my quad and it never recovered. sigh….there will be others i suppose :)

great bucket list! Napa Valley and Greece are definitely on mine as well.

Yay! A half! How exciting!

Love the bucket list, and I’m looking forward to the stories as they all get crossed off!

hehe, meeting Bobby Flay?! I don’t know why I think that’s funny. I think he’s such a nerd!!! Great chef, but so nerdy, and he thinks he is the SH*T! It’s cool that you got to meet Giada. I would like to meet Alton Brown (another man who thinks he is the sh*t, but in my opinion….he is!!).

I like the photography lesson goal. That’s on my list, along with learning another language (probably Spanish since it’s so common). Running a half marathon is definitely not a goal of mine, but getting a personal training, and trying reformer pilates is a goal for me!

I love the idea of learning another language. I should really add that onto my list!

Running a half marathon in Morocco this January…

I agree with other comments that the photography course is awesome. I took a rockclimbing class and although I don’t do it often these days, I can see myself getting into it after my knees get more tempramental!

Great list and congrats on the decision to do the run. I have been toying with the idea of a PhD. I want to speak another language really well. I’d love for my boys to have the opportunity to live in another country – oh yeah and my book – I need to write that.

loving your bucket list! One of my friends in college taught me how to knit. I can make square things like washcloths and scarves and I can make hats. But that’s the extent of it lol. I really really want to learn how to sew.

Running a half marathon was on my bucket list too! First it was just a 5k and I accomplished that.

I would love to learn how to knit as well – a friend tried to teach me, but I am too stressed out to knit.

Good luck with your training!
