Hi guys! I hope you had a great weekend! Mine was more low key than last weekend which was a nice change. Lots of time with family and friends.
Saturday
Workout
I started my Saturday with a nice early morning run through Pittman Wash. I covered 4.6 miles. This was my first outdoor run since my new shoes and it felt so great!
Later on I met my girlies for book club. Don’t we all look so official.
This month’s book was The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson.
I have a confession to make. I didn’t finish our book club book again! I really don’t have an excuse. I will say the book was difficult to get into. I am disappointed because we watched the movie and the story was so good! I might be a cheater and read the next two books in the series.
We decided to do a salad bar since we had book club closer to dinner. There was no shortage of toppings.
My salad filled with lots of delicious goodies.
There was also a fruit and veggie platter. My body was so happy especially after my indulgent Thursday.
Chips and guacamole from a local place. So delicious!
We had such a great time! I really love our book club. The book for next month is The Last Time They Met by Anita Shreve. I have to make sure to not slack off and read it!! Anyone read it?
Sunday
Workout
I made it to my usual body pump class. For some reason, I was not motivated. I probably could have increased my weights for a few muscle groups but kept it the same.
My sister, aunt, and, friend all weren’t able to make the class so I think that made a big difference. Do you notice you are more motivated to workout when you have a buddy?
Later on…
I went to my aunt’s house. She was hosting a Party Lite candle party.
She made lots of food. I had a few tastes here and there.
Lemonade..yum!
It was nice to catch up with my aunts and grandma.
I am all set and ready to go for the week so I am going to relax and maybe go hang out with a friend later on. Hope you are having a great day and thanks for checking in.
How was your weekend?

That salad looks delicious! Your book club looks like such a nice get-together to look forward to. Sounds like a nice, relaxing weekend with friends and family!
I watched the movie but didn’t read the book… I’m a big Scandinavia junkie, but I just don’t have much time for fiction–when I talked about it later with the friend who had recommended the film, I told her I thought the relationship between the two protagonists was weird and it came out nowhere. She said that it was MUCH better developed in the book, and that the book filled in a lot of stuff that the movie (obviously) skipped over. I’m guessing you’d disagree.
As for motivation, I ACTUALLY made it to a morning group run today, and I left the group for them to do the last bit (I can only guarantee my back for 10K and they were doing 12.5), so after 9 with the group I did the last 1 alone… and it was a totally different ballgame. YES: people increase motivation hugely! I bet that 2.5 with the group couldn’t have been as hard as 1 on my own!
Great weekend, thanks for asking.
I totally agree with you. That relationship definitely did come out of nowhere but my friends explained it more (like you said, the book went into more detail). Overall, I still liked the story. Movies are hardly ever better than the books.
Update! I just read that Christopher Plummer (aka Captain von Trapp, and a Montreal icon!) is going to be Henrik Vanger in the Hollywood version of “Girl…”. And I think that Daniel Craig as Mikael Blomkvist is going to be SO fun–*I* confess that I find him satisfying, in a very shallow sort of way.
I think I need to find time to read the book, too…
I heard about Daniel Craig cast as the main character. I liked the characters they cast for the swedish version but I am definitely curious to see how the new one is. Thanks for the update!!
I love the idea of a book club. I’d probably be like you, though, and not finish.
I love to read, but if I have an “assignment”, I seem to rebel.
Love the idea of an at home salad bar- looks amazing!
Have a great week!
Love the salad bar idea. Duh, never thought of doing anything like that at home. Sorry your pump class wasn’t that great – but you got it done at least. That hast to count for something right?
my weekend was pretty low key as well. met some friends for dinner one night, went for a run, enjoyed the nice warm weather. that’s too bad the book was hard to get into, i’ve heard such great things about the movie!
I love that pic of book club! Was such a nice time! The idea of Salad Bar was great and went over well!
Reading all the weekend recap posts I am SO ready for the weekend to come again
looks like you had tons of fun though!!
i really loved that book! but not so much the second one… the spread looks delicious!

My aunt actually bought most of the food at Trader Joe’s. She did make the bruschetta though. It was delicious!
It’s so much fun!
Yeah, book club definitely revolves around food!
So glad you stopped by my blog! I love meeting RD’s through blog world! Sounds like a great weekend. I heard that book was really good! I would love to join a book club!
I really want to join a book club one day. I love to read good books! Actually I just read The Omnivore’s Dilemma for a presentation I have to give, and I have a confession….I still haven’t finished it! I have about 50 pages to go and I present on Wed. I know I won’t get to it before my presentation, but oh well , I read most of it. I’ll finish it eventually.
Glad you had a nice weekend!
A book club sounds like so much fun! I love to read
That’s an awesome food spread at your get together.
Thanks for sharing your weekend with us. Your book club (and the salads) look like so much fun. I do an on-line book club a couple of times a year but would love to get together with friends and discuss.
That salad looks absolutely amazing! As do all the treats your aunt made! I love Party-Lite too bad none of my friends ever host a party any more! I saw some really cute pumpkins in the book I was thinking about getting.
enjoy your day!
xo
All the eats from the weekend look really good!
And I’m trying to read that book right now. I just have no time!
Terrific work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!
