Where Do I Start?

September 20, 2010

Hope you all had a great weekend!  Mine was so busy that I don’t even know where to start with this post.  I had a friend in town for a bachelor party so I was once again playing the tourist bit.  I swear, I’m not normally on the strip that often. :)

Let’s back track a bit…

Saturday

Workout

I have been trying to change up my workouts a bit more and have added in more running.  I thought I would try and go for a longer run outside since I have been mostly running on the treadmill.  There is a trail by my house called the Pittman Wash

I was trying for 4 miles (I made it about 3.5) but mid run my arch on my right foot was screaming at me!  It was the worst pain.  It seemed to only get worse when I walked so I did what I thought was best and tried to run as fast as I could and be done.

I figured it was in my best interest (as well as my foot’s best interest) to see if the problem might be shoe related.  I went to the store where I bought my first running shoes and what do you know, the new shoes I tried on made a world of a difference.  The guy at the store said the cushion wears after a while.  I have had my current shoes for over a year so no wonder.  I decided to just go for it and bought a new pair of Asics.  I love them!!

Do you notice a big difference with running shoes?  I never was a believer myself until I bought my first pair of Asics.

That afternoon…

I met up with my friend and we headed over to the Bellagio.  Bellagio offers great art exhibits that change every so often.  The current exhibit is called Figuratively Speaking:  A Survey of the Human Form.

The exhibit showcased more than 30 paintings, drawings, photographs, sculpture, and video installations.

Unfortunately no photos were allowed in the exhibit.  Now I am more of a Monet girl myself, but I do love Renoir and Picasso.

I will show you a few of my favorites featured.

Later that night…

I met my friend and his bachelor buddies for dinner.  I was the only girl of the night amidst all these boys.  Aren’t I a lucky girl! :)

We started the night off with dinner at Tao

Now, I was with a bunch of guys and didn’t want to get scrutinized for my food picture taking, so sorry no food pics.  I will say everything was excellent.

We started off with appetizers including edamame, vegetable dumplings, and chicken gyoza,  Entrees included sweet and sour chicken, shrimp and chicken noodles, and chicken skewers.  There were so many more but I just can’t remember them all.

After dinner, we headed into the club at Tao which was super crowded!  We didn’t stay all that long but it was still a fun time.

Sunday

Workout

Although a late night it was, I still managed to make it to body pump.  Since we are waiting on the new track to launch, the instructor is mixing it up with some old songs.  Loved the mix today!

I tried increasing my triceps weight, but quickly realized I wouldn’t be able to make it through the set.  Oh well, maybe next time!

Later on in the afternoon…

I met up with the boys again.  My friend and I decided to venture off in the Venetian.  Since we were there, I decided to pick out a treat at Bouchon Bakery

Look at all these goodies…

These chocolate croissants were calling my name.

One word…delicious!

Another fun weekend but I am actually hoping for a low key weekend soon.  The next few weekends ahead are pretty busy as well.  Hey, I guess being busy is never a bad thing, right!?!

How was your weekend?  Have you been to any art museums?  Do you have a favorite artist?

I am eagerly awaiting the new Body Pump release, too! I am all about old stuff– I can’t get into the same 3 releases over and over. And pain au chocolat is totally one of my fave foods, too :) Hmmm, art museum– have to say the Musee d’Orsay.

I really think good running shoes can make a world of difference! Make sure you replace your shoes at least every six months to make sure you’re getting the right support!

Sounds like a busy weekend. I got new running shoes on Friday. They make a huge difference. I try to change mine out every 6 months at the very most.

Sometimes I just really miss Vegas. I know how it goes to feel like you are always there on the strip for a period of time and it makes you seem like you are always there, but it just all happens that everything is at the same time. I would go weeks without ever going there and then be there non stop for a week or something.

I am an ASICS addict…even after mizunos. I also have orthopedic orthodics that helps prevent plantar fasicitis…

And, I would love to go art-gazing with you!

Sounds like a great weekend! This guy must be a really good friend for allowing you to come out to his bachelor party. And, I bet his fiance LOVED that!! You probably kept them under control :)

I am not a huge fan of art museums, but I’ve been to several and do enjoy them once I’m there. I typically only go if my mom makes me….hehe

Glad you got some new running shoes. They seriously make all the difference in the world.

Yeah, I was actually surprised they were ok with me going out with them! It is definitely a lot different than going out with a bunch of girls I will tell you that!

i buy new runners every year. at first i wanted to push it to every 2 years, but they do wear down fast, and you really do notice a difference when you put on a new pair at the store, hey? have fun in those :)

i haven’t been to a museum in a while, but i’ve been meaning to! we’ve had some pretty good exhibits here (monet, van gogh) i really need to get on that!

I’ve wanted to go to Tao when I’m in town! I love the picture of the guys — what a lucky group to have you around as a guide :)

And P.S. Asics ROCK! I won’t wear anything else. They are pillows for my feet. As soon as I tried on my first pair, I’ve never worn anything else!

I’m a total New Balance kind of girl (maybe expected of me?), and I keep 2 pairs on the go at a time. Apparently, if you want the cushioning to plump back up after a workout, the shoe needs a day of rest. So I have an “inside pair” and an “outside pair”, and alternate–I also try to replace with the “800 km of wear” figure in mind… but I think that being able to rest them gives them a longer life.

I don’t know how you could see anything else at that bakery besides the palm-sized macarons. I dream in macarons. :)

I like Chagall. And Kandinsky. But I freely admit that I’m clueless and wish I knew more about it. Great post! Wish I lived in Vegas!

That is a good idea to have an inside and outside pair. I think the problem was that I ended up using my running shoes for everything which made them wear even faster. These ones I will make to use just for running.
I have had their macaroons before and they were amazing!!
