I must say I had quite the eventful weekend! Next weekend will most likely be the same since I have friends coming in town. Although busy, there was no shortage of fun!
Saturday
Saturday night I met some friends at a restaurant downtown, Firefly. Since I have blogged about this restaurant a few times, I thought I would pass on taking pictures. You can check out my other visits there: I, II, III
Since we were in downtown Vegas, we decided to act as tourists and walk Fremont Street. Let me just say, it was a blast! The last time I think I had been downtown, aside from dinner, was back in college.
My friend Whitney and I.
In typical tourist fashion, I took a ton of pictures!
This is what one million dollars looks like…just in case you wanted to know.
(And yes, you could take a picture with it…only in Vegas)
The question of the night was, “why not?”
Why not…dress up like Darth Vader…
or Elvis…
Mike Tyson…
or dress up a dog and have him wear sunglasses.
Not sure what this guy is doing but, again, why not!
I am telling you, it was one of the funnest Vegas adventures I have had in a while. We laughed so much! We also thought that maybe we should dress up and go downtown and try to score some cash! Thoughts!?!
Sunday
For something fun, I thought I would attend a cooking demo at Williams Sonoma. The demo was on cooking risotto. One of my favorite foods ever! I am going to do a separate post this week but I will leave you with a preview. I am also going to attempt making it so stay tuned.
I went to dinner at my parents and we made one of my recipes that was published in Today’s Diet and Nutrition magazine.
Sweet Potato Fries
Delicious!
I am going to meet up with some friends for frozen yogurt then get cuddled up on the couch and watch the season finale of My Boys! Can’t believe the season is already over. Hope you had a great weekend and thanks for reading.
How was your weekend? If you could dress up as any celebrity or character, who would you be?

Not sure about dressing up. I’m not one to even dress up for Halloween. May need to break out and get crazy huh?
looks like a GREAT weekend! I’d love to dress up as Gaga. Just for an hour or 2.. i think that be fun.
And congrats on being published!!
Just stumbled upon your blog. So fun! That dog is ridiculous! What a fun weekend.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
I lived in Calgary for a loooong time–a place that boasts something like 9 different non-stop flights to Vegas daily. And yet… I’ve never been. Gambling doesn’t totally appeal to me, but now I’m curious about the kitsch! Thanks for the tour!
I’m not huge into costumes, but if we’re playing imagination, then I’d just like to be styled for a day–someone can pick the perfect dress for me, do my hair and makeup, and just make me fabulous. Why not?
Looks like a very fun weekend!
I’d love to go to Vegas for a fun day/night… (and can’t wait for the toddler to get old enough to stay home overnight without us).
The sweet potato fries look great! Can’t wait to read what you learned about risotto.
Looks like you had a fabulous time. You always do such fun things! Congrats on being published as well!
xo
what an awesome night! my weekend wasn’t nearly as exciting. we had an awesome wine tasting earlier in the week that i’m still paying for (calorie wise.)
(p.s. can you believe i’ve only had risotto once? from what i remember, it was pretty delish though
)
I have never been to Vegas, but according to Nick “I would LOVE IT!”. haha, i don’t know….I mean it just seems like a whole new world! Your pictures are great…elvis, Mike Tyson?! So random (well, Elvis isn’t random at all I guess).
I’m glad you had a nice weekend Kristen. And, I hope your risotto turns out. Risky business! I know that’s always what gets chefs in trouble on the reality shows I watch. I hope yours turns out great!
You know I love your sweet potato fries – yum!
I’m glad you had fun in downtown! I’ve only ever been to Vegas once, and boy those lights were something! I didn’t see any Elvis or Mike Tyson impersonators, though – I guess I’ll need to wait for next time
One time, for a high school event, I dressed up as John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever. It was fun
Ooo looks like SO much fun! I am going to VEgas in Novemeber and I can’t wait!! Have you ever had a deep fried oreo? A dietitian’s nightmare but SO so good hahah
I would want to dress up like Britney spears lol
I have never tried a deep fried oreo but I have heard they are amazing. I saw a sign Saturday for deep fried twinkies..guess you can pretty much fry anything. haha.
November is a great time to come to Vegas!
I’ve been to Vegas way too many times to have never made it to Fremont! I have to go next time — it looks like a blast! And I love that you looked like a tourist in your town
I don’t know who I would dress up as…hm!
