Sun and Sunflower

July 26, 2010

Sorry it has been a few days since I last posted. There was an emergency that occurred in my family.  It ended up being a long night Thursday followed by Friday morning at the hospital. Thankfully everything is ok.  I consider you readers like family in a way, which is why I decided to let you in a more personal part of my life.  Back to my regular blogging schedule, promise.

On a much different note, I loved reading all your comments on my last post regarding the foods you would choose if you could only have one for the rest of your life.  A few of you had mentioned cereal.  Definitely can’t go wrong with that.

Saturday

I had a great morning starting with a sweaty spin workout followed by a trip to Sunflower Market.  I love this grocery store!

They had Larabars on sale…10 for $10.  I stocked up!

Does anyone get as excited about good food deals as I do!?!

Later in the afternoon, my friends and I met at my sister’s house for book club.  We discussed Something Borrowed my Emily Giffin.  It was a very cute book.  Supposedly they are making a movie, including my crush John Krasinski, which I am looking forward to.

I decided to bring some goodies to put together a little cheese platter.  I bought brie and gorgonzola cheese and put out grapes, apples, and crackers (Kashi original 7 grain..so good).  It was a perfect snack!

If you wanted to learn a little more about the nutritional value of various cheeses, you can check out this fun article here.

My sister also bought this yummy pizza from Costco that we all munched on.

Next up for book club is The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson.

After book club, I had to get a manicure.  After getting my gel manicure, my nails didn’t look all that great.  I would say that the gel manicure was worth the money, but it lasted maybe 4 weeks (compared to the 6-8 weeks they were supposed to).  I usually get a light color so its not so noticeable when they chip.  (sorry, blurry pic)

Sunday

My aunt and my sister joined me for Body Pump this morning.  It makes it so much more fun when you have company.  I FINALLY got to try out the new body pump track.  To be honest, it wasn’t as scary as the instructors made it out to be.  I will say the triceps track killed me!!  Tricep pushups and dips are SOO tough.

I hung out at my parents most the afternoon.  With the Vegas high of 111 degrees, swimming was a must.

Tonight, I couldn’t be more excited for the premiere of My Boys!  Love this show!  I actually spotted Jim Gaffigan (one of the actors on the show) at the airport not too long ago!

I would like to start doing that too, blogging my eats. I think it may just be easier than blogging nutrition info, I’m sort of sick of that!

Love your nails, I need a manicure BAD.
Glad to hear the emergency is no longer an emergency. I hope everything is still ok.

Emily Giffin is a GREAT author! I love her books. I need to read this one, I hear it’s really good.

I can imagine it being difficult to always have to come up with topics to write about. I would agree that sometimes it is nice just to take pictures of your food.
