Books and Beautiful Weather

April 25, 2010

Hey my beautiful readers!  Hope you had a great weekend.  Mine was filled with lots of girl time which, honestly, is the best!  The weather in Vegas couldn’t have been better.  We finally had our book club meet up so I can start reading the new book.

Saturday morning, me and a couple girls went out for an afternoon lunch at Lake Las Vegas.  Lake Las Vegas is about 2o minutes east of the strip.  It has the cutest little village, if you will.

They have entertainment on the weekends, like jazz, movies, wine walks.  So much fun!

The weather was gorgeous so we had to take advantage and sit outside.  We decided on The Black Pepper Grill.

The menu wasn’t anything too out of the ordinary but, we were all pleased with what we ordered.

They brought us a basket of warm bread with olive oil and vinegar to dip.  We dived right in.

For my meal, I ordered the caprese salad: tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, and a drizzle of balsamic vinaigrette.  I knew there would be food at book club so I didn’t want to completely ruin my appetite.

It was very delish!  In Italy, I would eat this all the time. Mozzarella cheese is one of my favorites!

My lovely lunch dates:  Daniella and Whitney.

Whitney and I headed to book club after lunch.  As you might know, our book this month was Sarah’s Key.  Such a great book!

I had planned to make something for book club but was running a bit late.  There was still quite the spread.

There was sangria!

Sandwiches!

Croissants!

I don’t think my caprese salad held me over well.  I ended up eating one and a half croissants…and you see how big these babies are.  Oops!

Our next book is The Memory Keeper’s Daughter by Kim Edwards.   (like the cat tail passing by..haha)

There is a movie that accompanies the book as well.  Woot! Woot!  We have had a few books with movies along the way.  It is always fun to see how they compare.

Today I went into Ann Taylor Loft.  This is seriously one of my favorite stores.   I had a 30% coupon and picked up the cutest bermuda shorts.  A must have for this hot Vegas weather to come.

What are your must have essentials for summer?

I am coming up on my monthly check in for my Bikini Bound Challenge.  This last week was a bit of a struggle.  I haven’t been too good with my workouts.  There is always time to keep working on making changes, right?

What is your week look like..busy, relaxed?  I am getting my hair done Wednesday!  I can’t wait.  Why does it never turn out as good when you d
o it on your own.

Have a great Sunday!

Cheers to girl time! I LOVE ATL too. One of my favorite stores. One of my summer essentials would be flip flops – I have a million pairs. Love ‘em!

Oh, those shorts are really cute! My summer must haves? Sun block, sun glasses, hat (I tend to burn easily) and flip flops. I start wearing flip flops usually in May and only put them away in about October when the morning frosts start to show up. :-)

Don’t watch the Memory Keeper’s movie!!! It’s awful. I loved the book but the movie. Double ick!

And I love the Loft too. Just ordered a bunch of stuff online during the friends and family event!

Movies never seem to compare to the books! Yeah, I think my friend was saying it was a Lifetime movie. That might say it all. haha.

Great looking meal. I love Lake Las Vegas. We did the cruise around it once when my mom was in town. It was fun and something different to do.

I have one big final this week that I am pretty scared for, but other than that it should be a pretty nice week. Hope yours goes well!

I love a caprese salad for a light meal, although I always go a little heavy on the mozzarella – oops! Your book club looks like so much fun! I always loved discussing books in high school, and this looks even better with the gorgeous spread. I glad you had a fun weekend!

This week looks pretty busy with school and work – I’m looking forward to 1.5 weeks from now, when school is over for the year! Have a nice evening, Kristen!

I love your blog and I love Loft!

I have those same shorts, not a size 2 though :-p And those do not qualify as Bermuda Shorts! They are super short (ok ok, not booty shorts and not 2″ length shorts, but they are still short shorts)

I think the picture looks deceiving. The shorts come up just right above my high…I must have really short legs. haha.
