What a Weekend!

January 31, 2010

Hey everyone!  I just love the weekends!  And I love when I get up early.  I woke Saturday morning and made it to a spin class that I haven’t been to in such a long time.  It was nice to get those legs going again.  This teacher plays really good music.  She did a lot of MJ and a random mix of Elton John, Black Eyed Peas, and Beyonce..it worked though.

Since there was a lot of yummy eats this weekend, I thought I’d share a few of my favorites with you!

My mom is out of town so I met my sister and dad at one of my favorite spots, The Sunrise Cafe.  I have blogged about it before.  It is so tasty and there is such a variety.  Today I thought I would try a “create your own” omelet.  I had my omelet with green peppers, spinach, and avocado.

IMG_2492 It came with a side of fruit and a bagel with butter, which I split with my dad.

All together now…IMG_2500 I love supporting smaller restaurants and the many times I have been there, have never been disappointed.

Check out my sister’s blueberry pancakes! I had a taste, they did not disappoint.

After breakfast, I headed to the grocery store.  Since it has been a while, I thought I would share with you my goods for the week.

IMG_2504 Produce:

  • bananas
  • blackberries
  • broccoli
  • carrots
  • green peppers
  • 2 bags lettuce  (spring mix)
  •  mushrooms

IMG_2502 Everything Else:

  • garbanzo beans
  • organic milk
  • kashi crackers
  • dark chocolate
  • variety of KIND bars
  • whole wheat pizza dough
  • whole wheat sandwich thins
  • granola
  • gum

I got quite a bit of produce on sale which is always exciting.  I am the biggest dork but I plan out all my meals for the week on Sunday.  I try to prep as much as I can on Sunday so it saves me time during the week.  Trust me though, it pays off.

On Sunday, I started my morning off with my usual jump rope class.  My shin was bothering me again so I have to make sure to stretch it out good.

For lunch, I met a friend at Crazy Pita.  I have known my friend Michele since second grade.  It’s nice to still keep in touch with friends you’ve known for so long.

I ordered a chicken pita with a feta salad on the side.  It also came with a side of, you guessed it, pita bread.

IMG_2518With a side of hummus.  Can we just say delicious!

The feta salad had lots of crunchy cucumbers and tomatoes.  It tasted so fresh.

IMG_2516 Don’t the weekends just fly by!  I am going to get my food prepped for the week and hang out at my parents for a bit.  There might be some frozen yogurt in my future.  My tummy couldn’t be happier.  Hope you all had a great weekend!

Did you have any good eats this weekend?

Glad you had a nice weekend! The Sunrise Cafe reminds me of a breakfast/brunch/lunch restaurant here in Ohio called “First Watch”. Actually I swear the picture on the menu is the same!

I had some great eats this weekend (birthday weekend!) my favorite being the sushi I ate. It was amazing.

Have a great evening! And, enjoy that fro yo :)

Everything looks and sounds delicious! I love supporting smaller restaurants, too. I pretty much avoid chain restaurants, in all honesty!

I made some wonderful muffins and hubby and I shared some faitas from our favorite Mexican restaurant last night. I made salmon with a soy and honey marinade topped with a mango black bean salsa — really yummy!

Your weekend sounds great, glad you had fun. And well done for attending the spinning class, sounds like a lot of fun!
It was my Bday weekend so I ate tons of goodies. Still recovering from it. :-)

This weekend I made peanut butter cupcakes with a chocolate ganache from my new cookbook vegan cupcakes take over the world. They turned out so tasty!

Is Crazy pita new? I wish I knew about that place before I moved since that food looks so good. I also have never been to the Sunrise cafe. Looks good there too.
