Hey guys! Happy weekend to you all!
So before I get onto my night, I have to rant a bit. The other day a mom brought in her child”s lunch menu, wanting to see what options are healthy. My coworker and I went over it and honestly, there was ONE choice that seemed ok…out of the whole month. This is ridiculous. I mean, half of the meals offered did not even include a fruit or vegetable, unless they are considering an apple turnover a fruit. As a dietitian, it is really upsetting to see. Do any of you work with kids or know of schools in your community that offer healthy lunches? I am hoping that dietitians can play a larger role in the area of school nutrition, actively participating and monitoring the foods these children are served.
Now onto my evening…
My grandma hosted a Party Lite candle party at my parents house. My mom made quite the spread, as usual.
I should have had a snack to tide me over, I was play casino starving when I walked in. Never a good thing. Instead of standing by the food and snacking which had add up, I made a plate so as to control my portions. I grabbed a bit of everything.

My food included cheese and crackers, a proscuitto and cheese (not sure of the type of cheese) sandwich, homemade french onion dip, seven layer dip with chips, and the most delicious homemade pressed sandwich with onions, roasted peppers, mozzarella, and basil. yum yum.
As the night went on, I also had a glass of cabernet sauvignon. Forgot to take a pic. I did remember to take a picture of my new boots. Where are my priorities. I must say, they are soo comfortable. I had them on all day and my feet weren”t killing me.

My sister and I enjoying the party!

It was a fun night of food and friends. I am going to make myself some breakfast and get ready for the day. Hope you have a great weekend!

The DoD school here has healthy lunches for the most part. There is always a fruit and a vegetable on the menu and often I hear grilled or baked items. Most schools these days have strict rules for snacks (in the elementary school) that kids can bring and I believe sugar can’t be one of the first ingredients (not really sure) and no candies, and some other things, so most have fruit and things like pretzels for 1st grade snacks. One girl even tattled on another student for having candy, and I was subbing so i told him to remind his parents about this rule..in all fairness it was the Monday after Halloween and I am sure mom just wanted to get the candy out of the house.
Cool boot!
I have to say the CCSD food service is disappointing to say the least. Kids just need to be exposed to good tasting healthier options or they will never change. Your mom always has the yummiest food!!!! Killer boots man!! (can you guess which movie that’s from lol) They are nice
Hi Andrea!
